I am starting to wonder if we could get away with a 15-20% mix of coolant in the water just for the anti-corrosive.
Gets expensive if you dont run the car for a year.
other solution would be to service before parking and putting coolant in it instead.

It would be interesting to know how and if this rule is enforced, because a small amount of glycol-based coolant may go a long ways toward corrosion protection. The problem with putting coolant in the system in the winter for storage (and then removing it and replacing it with water wetter in the driving season) is that it's hard to get it all out of the system. There's a full 5 gallons of liquid in the system, and it hides everyplace. If you just drain it at the engine, you'll only get out a few gallons. There's a lot more in all the radiators, hoses and lines. So if it's important (by rule) that there truly be no coolant in the system -- and if it's enforced in some way that you need to comply -- it would be a royal pain to actually get all the coolant out.
Let's wait and see if the heat exchanger was the culprit and what PMNA suggests doing about it.

Betim at BBI Is going to be taking care of the fixing on the engine.
we have the sobek water flush so I would guess I can get most of the coolant out after winterizing. (Funny to say that in the bay area).
I will report back once we figure it out.

They are confidant that they got the engine cleaned out enough without a full teardown and replaced the exchanger and are buttoning it up and pressure test....
compression and leakdown were good.

I am going to chat with Betim or Jared when I get down there tomorrow.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. Did the Fall-line kit work out for you? If so, are we able to get more and how? I didn't see them online last time I looked. Thanks!
