Boy will the purists hate me!
I already own a Panamera GTS, but for winter driving and due to fact that my commute is 70 miles round trip, decided to get a Cayenne Diesel. Found a used one with 3k miles that they CPOd, gotta say its a great long hauler. I like how the gas gauge never moves. Ironically, my wife who was very anti-Cayenne loves it! She has a new 2013 GL550 and drives the Cayenne whenever possible instead.

Which purists? The Panamera purists or the Cayenne purists?
The Porsche purists hate everybody.

I can be a purist but don't understand the "hate" thing. Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks all for the candid replies! Of course I was referring to the air-cooled folks. While I am a member of PCA, I have never been to an event, nor do I think would be welcomed! My only attempt at redeeming myself was trading in my 2010 Panamera Turbo for a new 991 S, and it was a horrible mistake -- corrected in only a few months by getting a Pan GTS. Being taller and having kids, the Panamera and Cayenee just fit my lifestyle better. Oh well, can't make everyone happy. As long an I am happy, thats all that matters.
As for the CD its great! As I said before, I am kinda used to filling up the tank frequently due to my long commute, so its been fun avoiding gas stations lately. Plus the CD is really quiet and comfortable on the road. In my opinion the diesel really suits the vehicle. As a basic vehicle to get to and from work this combo works really well.

Go try telling that to them
Who cares what others think. Your own opinion is all that should matter in such things. There will always be people that will go on about how poor of a choice you made and how their opinion should matter. Screw them.
As far as PCA goes, at least my chapter is inclusive and never made us feel unwelcome with our 996 on the few events we've attended.

We have members who are aircooled guys and those with just Cayennes and some of us even drive both. Just go to a club event and meet the people, see if you still feel the same way after.

I'm in both camps and frankly I was not aware that anybody really cared how your Porsche is cooled. But when it comes to debating "which color is faster", there are lots of opinions and disagreements!

The 991 is the new 996 in that the "purists" think all the electrical stuff is bad for the "experience". It's the typical old-timer syndrome you see with all things. "It was good back in my day, why did it have to change?"

I've heard this in the past though not so much lately. Being 10 yr PCA member I've never heard of issues in the 2 clubs I've been a part of. Hell, the long time Tres. of our club is even a 928 driver!!!
