Default Some like Pig.. some do not. Forum Nickname Discussion.

Larry (former owner of a Cayenne) began to call our beloved SUV a "pig". Many times, he went so far as to say some of the "fixes" were merely "lipstick on a pig".. that was the genesis.

Some like the moniker.. some do not. If we stick with PIG (which personally I like in a sarcastic sort of way - common on this forum), then the only distinction that would seem to make sense based on the other thread recommendation by BladeMD and to thereby include the usual Porsche mystique and snobbery we all know exists -- A simple PIG delineation scheme:
swine = v6
pig = S
pretty pig = Tit.S
fast pig = GTS
hog = TT
boar = TTS

Larry would be proud......

The new thread is assisting sigs. He was told by engimawmn to start a new thread with a poll but he didn't follow instructions so in true Porsche spirit, I started the job for him; however, I don't know how to do no stinkin' polls.. although we probably don't need one... and since we're off-topic on the other thread..

Thus, We now have, right here, a thread to rant/rave/suggest/torch new nicknames for the beloved Cayenne. FIRE when ready.. I see you made a suggestion so I'll put it here for all to see.

OZR Suggestion is ORCA.
Reasons are as follows:
...orca...(big dolphin)

From the "Mandatory Reading Assignment" post in this forum, I think we have a winner:

I don’t care how much you can make a 5,500-lb. SUV “dance,” because doing a GTS version of the Cayenne for the street is like putting tap shoes on a rhino.

Tap shoes on a rhino.....Brilliant !

MadFox, thanks for picking up the ball I dropped.

I could explain that I've been having computer troubles and that my IT folks are about as on the ball as my local P-car service dept. But, in fact, all that is moot, because I wouldn't have known how to set up no stinkin' polls, either.

Anyway, I agree with droptop about brevity being essential. It would be almost impossible to pick another animal and come up with an analogous parsing anywhere near as suitable as your pig hierarchy. Like a great athlete, you've set the bar so high from the start that you've no doubt intimidated lesser contenders.

I may have to head out to the brush and try to capture a picture of a wild boar to use as my avatar.

Thus we submit for your consideration fellow brethren:

Baby Rhino = v6
Rhino = S
Pretty Rhino = Tit.S
Dancing Only Rhino = GTS*
Stud Rhino = TT
Steroid Rhino = TTS

Perhaps the GTS is a zoo born Rhino -- incapable of being in the wild (offroad)?

I think the Rhino nomenclature is quite good. I like the Zoo Rhino for the GTS... spot on.

The only part about Rhino I like is the fact that I may live to see the day where the Cayenne becomes extinct, like some species of rhinos.

It'll happen.. global warming will flood the Rhino's habitat and then all we'll see are the ones with tap shoes in the zoo.

I like the Rhino idea. Pretty unique animal. Even in Africa not that common. Not an animal you want to mess with. Pretty much indestructible. Just like the Cayenne......

I don't see myself using the "Rhino" instead of the "Pig", so I'll stick to that.

True story. A year/two ago, a lady well into her 50s comes up to us and starts asking about the car. Tells us how much she loves the looks, and proceeds to say that Cayenne resembles a, and I'm quoting directly, "a frog with a banana stuck up its rear". Since we're on the subject of animals, I thought this was appropriate. Anyone in favor of that one?

The animal that it "looks like" the most to me is a Carp.

...I guess, some of us ride on a rhino...
...some of us ride on a frog...
...some of us ride on a pig...

...and SOME OF US ride on an orca...

...but the OTHERS ride on their @ss and complain about not owning the car... trying to justify their "logic"... or lack of it...

I watched a Pod of Orcas outside our house last year. Beautiful animals: Graceful, agile and fast. Good call.
