replace PCM1 with aftermarket sound system
Has anyone installed a Siecane or similar aftermarket sound system in a 2004 CTT? If sso, how has it performed? One model better than another? Android or iPhone connect? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ted - welcome to the forums. A tiny bit of searching will turn up very detailed threads about various Android units that have been used to replace the factory PCM on the 955/957 vehicle.
The precise answer to your question is - yes. Spending a bit of time browsing and searching this forum will turn up all the details one could possibly want.

Have one in my 06 TTS. Absolute crap and a horrible, appalling company, Seicane. That being said, the unit does stuff no other could do and if it died tomorrow, I'd replace it with another. As was said, search the forum. They can be had for as little as $350. Don't give that horrible company a penny more than you have to.

I'm installing a Panasonic Avic 8200NEX in my '06 CTTS. Touchscreen, still maintain steering wheel controls. Better Bluetooth (compared to Morbidge), and Nav. Etc....

I just installed an android 7.1 in my 2004 cayenne base.
Everything fits perfectly. Nice navigation, bluetooth, music (from IPhone) streaming, 2 sd card, rear and front camera, dvd, torque etc., 4 Chanels + subwooferline. Also I installed a subwoofer and the sound is amazing.
I am more than happy with the new system.
I paid less than 300 for it and sold the PCM2.1 with 300 and mobridge still for sale (100).

I went to a local auto shop and the installer was recommending to install a square pioneer or alpine camera by running wiring along the floor and mounting near the trailer hitch area. He didn't want to go via tailgate by the license plate bulbs as many others have installed. thx.

I had an android unit and replaced it with Dynavin with Apple CarPlay. I would go the Dynavin route the first time around if I had to do it again. Thought about trying an aftermarket Pioneer with the new wireless CarPlay, but I totaled my cayenne and bought a different car. The Dynavin and a spare Most adapter are for sale in the classifieds.
