My 2006 Cayenne HAD PERFECT leather seats.
So I parked the Cayenne with all four windows partially open overnight, (hate to say it but my wife told me to as she thought that the car needed airing out!!!) and it rained. When I went out the next morning, I thought: No big thing, they did not look that wet, and I dried them off. Went to the shop, parked the car under the shelter with the windows down to completely dry out. Later that day, my wife got in the Cayenne to go pick up something, and said: "Did you do something to the Cayenne seats? They are different looking" I walked out, thinking nothing of it until I opened the door: I was shocked! The driver's seat bottom had turned to hard sandpaper shrunken plastic, and the other three seats had marks of the same shrunken hard sandpaper plastic…TOTALLY RUINED! AND ruined my day. My perfect factory leather interior was no more. Called Porsche, ordered a new factory seat cushion cover for heated seats and it was ALMOST 1000. AND I have to get it installed! Heavy price to pay for leaving the windows partially down

All may not be lost. Take it to a good leather restoration shop. They possibly can rehydrade the leather with all their special oils and such. Don't wait long because time is ticking on this one. I have seen some really amazing outcomes with seats that are restored by a real expert.

My wife and I get in the cayenne with wet swim suits pretty regularly when coming off the lake. Never noticed anything like that. I use leather honey a couple times a year in large quantities on the full leather interior and it still looks brand new except for a few minor scuffs here and there from using the vehicle as an SUV.

that is why i could not believe that the leather did this with just a bit of rain! They are always conditioned with lexol, and were in perfect condition and soft. I would just not think that a little bit of water would have done this.
Unfortunately I made the same mistake. Mine only got the edge of the seat lnowhere near as severe as yours. You can probably save them. The main thing you need is fatliquor. I'm going to have to recommend checking out the leathedoctor.com.
Hopefully with time and more conditioner it will heal. I have seen people do some remarkable restorations. I am going to be a little less cavalier with getting mine wet now, so thanks to both of you for sharing that.
Wow, thanks for the heads-up. My wife left our Pano roof open in a shower once and things got wet, but they looked totally normal afterwards, nothing like yours.
If you can't save them, for a lot less money, you can probably have Rob Budd at Classic 9 recover them. He did my 928 Spyder dash, center console, and pod.

Thanks. Rob did the leather work and I put the interior together with the upgraded seats, stereo, electrics, etc. Seats are from a 997. Auto dimming rear-view mirror, back-up camera that image in the radio, and 1,000 watt Amp hidden in the custom rear a/c console from a newer car, driving all the Focal speakers and sub in the trunk. Has a 6-speed Z06 trans in it and this under the hood. More pics in the link in my sig.
My front passenger '05 got wet a number of years ago, always had a hard spot there afterwards, which given the increased stress on the adjacent seam / normal leather interface eventually tore....
