Haha, yeah guys I never thought it would fit in this catagory, moreso just speaking about the spoiler being a give away.
Ultimate sleeper in my book would be a 356 with steelies and tinted windows with a 3.8tt mounted amidships hiding all the plumbing and gear. Add MOTEC and gear dependant boost, you'll have quite the little rocket ship.

I'm building a narrow body late 80's 911 coupe with a 550 HP turbo motor. Car will look completely stock down to the Fuchs. The only real visual clue will be the turbo tail but it will have the standard Carrera rubber, not the extra large turbo version. It should be a real sleeper..........

By the way Guns, your car is one of the most ridiculously awesome looking porsches I've ever seen. Great job.

My stock Audi RS6 is a great sleeper. Twin turbo V8, 450 hp. To the untrained eye it is just another A6. It is much more fun to surprise people with this car than with the more obvious speed and power of my 997 TT.

along with my 2 Porsches, Subaru, and Motorcycles I have my "sleeper" its a 520whp 93 honda civic hatchback... weighs less than 2200lbs and most definitely surprises a lot of cars and sprortbikes and looks relatively stock (black paint/black rims/ no bs "tuner" graphics etc.
I have added a lot: fully built/ sleeved dohc b18c5, 9:1 cp pistons, pauter rods, ferrea/skunk valvetrain 10,000rpm redline/ sc61 precision turbo pushing 25psi , 1000cc injectors, walbro 255hp pump, aeromotive fpr, braided fuel lines, all a/c and p/s removed/ quaife diff, wilwood brakes/ h&r springs, koni shocks, poly bushings... I cant list it all---I'm missing more than I have wrote so far lol... basically other than some body panels and interior panels its almost all been changed.
as for "sleeper" status, I would make a pretty good bet that it would give some very, very modded/expensive 996/997 tt cars a run for their money from 60-130 (seems to be a popular measurement around here). It will run with a newer 1000 cc sportbike from 60-160+ (she'll "redline" 5th but im afraid to rev it past 9000rpm in 5th at 25psi LOL...btw 9k in 5th w/ my trans =180mph
) not that I would ever do something like that

'82 SC coupe with Renegade Hybrids LS-1. 495 hp, 3.4 second 0-60, looks completely stock. The LS-1 weighs less than a stock 911 SC 3.0! The care absolutely rips.

931 with a highly modded 951 engine (hope to go to about 350 rwhp)
Nobody considers the 924/931 a fast car these days....
Plans are also to make it a lightweight

The newest Porsche now hits 62 MPH in 3.2 seconds (with Sport Chrono Porsche Doppelkupplung). I'm guessing the drivers will be willing to put down serious cash to anyone willing to race. The only problem is building a faster car. I have a little less weight and the same horsepower, but I can't get below 3.5 seconds. I'd never trade my 6 speed manual for a PDK automatic, so I guess I'll have to keep an eye on the transmissions I'm up against. Fortunately, Porsche has finally switched to paddles, so PDK should be easier to spot.

Cool topic...
Not sure I agree with the definition of a sleeper. I always considered it a car that looked "normal" to the local constable and general public. Underneath the plain wrapper is a host of performance parts/upgrades which makes the car handle like a True sports car and gives it enough power to surpise most everyone.
My 500E was a sleeper....so is the Mazdaspeed3.
Most everyone expects a Porsche to be quick or somewhat quick depending on its age/type.
Now if we limit the description to a sports car sleeper then its a different story. Some of the cars posted here are true sleepers.

The 3L 6sp combo, big black brakes and M030 bitsin my '88 924s with the crappy paint and assortment of dents suprises most people...err it did when it was on the road.
Soon, very soon we shall rise again.
Hmmm, could a rat rod still be considered a sleeper?

I like the idea of a "rat rocket"!
If you can hide the mods... But one look through the wheels will show calipers, rotors and suspension components that shouldn't be there. If the premise of the sleeper is "a car you can make money with from racing", then anything out of place will defeat the purpose. While racing components are expected on Porsches, Corvettes and Ferraris, a shiny blue-and-chrome PSS10 coilover on a 924 will stick out. This is also true of high performance cars, only the level of mods required to seem out of place is higher. Like the 2001 turbo above, the wheels are just bling, they will attract competitors, but once they see the exhaust port coming out of the license plate tray, prospective competitors will keep walking.
