How much do Recaro seats weigh?
I have literally spent at least 6 hours surfing the web looking for a table of Recaro seats and their weights.
THe Recaro site itself is next to useless and seems to be missing various models.
I have yet to find this information on any vendor site either. Ok, a few have weights for the most lightweight racing shells but not the whoe range.
Can anyone help?
I am looking to replace seats primarily as a weight reduction exercise, so this is important to me.
Also, if the weight penalty is not too great, I would rather use a seat with a moving back, so that it is still possible to get to the back seats e.g. "Recaro Speed"
Thanks
Graham

Not exactly the info you're looking for, but it still gives an indication: the original comfort seats (heated, electrically adjustable) I had in my 996 Turbo were about 37 kg (80 lbs) each. The Porsche/Recaro bucket seats (aka GT3 seats) are about 9 kg (20 lbs) each.
Hope this helps!

Hi Graham - just looking at some seats myself. The Delux road race Kirkey is 18, Recaro spg, Sparco evo and Omp are all similar for non-adjustable - 11 pounds carbon - +/- 16 pounds fiberglass. Haven't checked reclining seats.

Graham,
The info used to be on a PDF on the Recaro web site, it might even be somewhere on their new "improved" site, but I couldn't find anything useful on there a while back despite searching long and hard!
The only info I have come across for their non-racing seats is for the Sport model, which is listed as 18.5kg, or 20.0kg with the "comfort pack" (seat ventilation, heating and electrical recline).
Pole position and SPG seats are each 4.5kg for the shell itself and another 2kg for the side mount adaptor plates.

Graham,
I used to have a set of Recaro SRD's. If I remember correctly they were 34lbs each with the slider mounts. I seem to rember the Sports were a little heavier.

Jack,
thanks, it is true that there are some weights on this site, but far from all the range.
I am looking for the weights of racing seats like the "Speed" which have back releases, so I can compare them to the pure racing shells.

My DAD reclining street/racing seats are 18 lb., 21 lbs with sliding brackets for each seat.
As compared to my electrics that weigh in at 52-55 lbs, I'm a happy camper! Yes, I do road racing myself and am lightening my 928 by 250-350 lb.
