Default Transmission oil pump& cooler ( Aftermarket)

I was wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket pump and cooler on their transmissions on a 951

Id like to know what type ( name) of pump
I thought i could use the oil cooler that is usually located on the front ( I have an aftermarket cooler) and locating it in the rear ( any thoughts, bad experiences)

where did you place the pick-up & return, how did you connect it, etc,
TIA, Thanks

Hi:

We don't do any 944 work but the principles are identical.

We use a Tilton electric gear oil pump and a small Setrab cooler. Everything get plumbed with AN-8 hose.

The transmission gets disassembled and two -8 fittings are attached; Feed: a hole is drilled into the side of the case at the bottom and a fitting gets welded in. Return: the other fitting is installed into a hole that gets positioned over the junction of the ring & pinion gears. I also install a tranny oil temp guage by drilling a hole in the case for a sending unit and a matching VDO guage in the cockpit. The Tilton pump is wired with a 30a relay and switched on the dash.

Good luck!
