Guys, I need your HELP!
I'm at wits end trying to install the new dust seals on my S4 calipers. I've tried it forwards, backwards, with and without a lubricant. No luck.
Has anybody rebuilt theirs with the new seals and how did you do it?
BTW. I was just going to replace the o-rings and reinstall the old scraper rings, but one is torn. So I can' t reuse the old one and I can't install the new one.

Thanks,

I always hated when people said this to me, but what about heating the caliper?

Brendan,
I thought about heating the caliper and cooling the seal, but decided against it. I'm sure the factory doesn't do it that way either. LOL
I just think that either there is a technique to it or I have the wrong parts.
I cross posted it on Rennlist several forums and I'm surprised at the little feedback I got.
SOMEBODY has to know!
Thanks,
Jim

I don't know why you are having such an issue, but there are 2 different seals for the 928S4/993front calipers, early and late. I have pics someplace but haven't been able to locate them.

Bill,
As far as I can tell, I got the right ones, but they are too big. I mangled two trying.
I've got an email into the supplier to see make sure of this, see if the older scraper ring is available and what I'm doing wrong.
Here's a pic of the old and new. The old scraper ring just slips right in, but not the dust seal type.

My understanding is that the new type superceded the old type. I know they were changed in '88 or '89. Hopefully the vendor will come through and clarify. I've clearly asked them about it, but no answer yet.
I'm dieing to install them and try em out.
