I spoke with my friend/wrench re: Alcon. How much of an endeavor is it to make a rotor that can be used as an upgrade for a 996? My cross drilled holes have cracks at 28K miles; about 8 DE events. Will not be much longer before I will need new hats. If Alcon never makes them, are there upgrade kits that won't need major modifications to the suspension/brake components? For instance, how painful is it to have a Cup Car's brakes put on the stock 996?

Arthur:
A couple of things,...
You can install the 996 TT or GT-3 brakes on your 996 but you'll need the latter's hub carriers (uprights) since the caliper spacing is different.
I'd recommend adding the matching rear calipers and rotors otherwise the brake bias is quite unfavorable.
Alcon doesn't have a direct rotor replacement per se, they offer larger ones that need a larger caliper to work correctly.
The least expensive upgrade will be one of the Brembo brake upgrades.
