Default Brake part number question?

I'm looking for some Big Reds. Are these the correct part numbers? # 993-351-425-10 & 993-351-426-10

Or is it: 996-351-429 AND 996-351-430

My parts and reference catalog only covers 1974- 1989.

Do the stock calipers have to have any machine work done to them prior to install or do adapters just make it a straight bolt on? TIA

Jim

Those are the correct #s for Big Reds

Top one is 993/S4 as used on 993tt rear bottom is Big Red or 993tt front

You need an adaptor like this

The rear 993tt will need to be machined and an adaptor similar to the front is needed, like this

left to right;993tt rear axial mount, 993RS rear machined for use on 911/930 rear, 993tt front(Big Red)

993tt r and 993RS r are the same caliper w/ different pistons

Bill,

Thanks again for your help.

So if I got a good deal on a pair front Big Reds calipers only (no machining needed from what I see), I would need to buy the adapters you show, then rotors and hats.

Are all rotors and hats equal? I've read/heard no. I'd like to get a set up that allows me to buy rotors with ease and not pay an arm and a leg because they were altered to fit/difficult, etc. Can I just buy Porsche factory rotors, as I seem to think the last the longest. At least they have for me.

BTW: How is it you have all these pics? Seems like you go to the garage and take them when someone has a question like I do sometimes.

If you have any Big Reds or S4's to sell, let me know.

Regards,
Jim

Yes, the rotors that you want are 2 piece w/ removable hats
993.351.045.10 (L) - $122.50
993.351.046.10 (R) - $122.50
These prices are old but still relatively inexpensive.

This what they look like

The one on the left is a 322x28 rear(modified to fit a 911/903 rear hub). The one on the right is the above rotors w/ the factory hat removed and replaced w/ a 911 hat.

I've got most of this stuff laying around or on file

I've got one set of 993tt rear calipers that I may sell, not sure yet.

Thanks again Bill.

Hopefully I'll be the proud owner of some of these soon!
