It's definitely a silly way to improve fuel economy - by a couple decimal places.

I'm curious has anyone really compared gas usage to see if it even helps? I'm sure it's been said a million times but it feels like unnecessary wear and tear on the car. I wanted to like it, but when it tries to predict I'm going to stop when in traffic but I instead hit the gas and there's that off on, it's annoying.

I agree that the auto stop/start is a pain. On the other hand, in some circumstances, the coasting function probably could improve the miles per gallon...

That's what I've resorted to, as well. In some cases, it's a really dangerous feature. I've hesitated (barely stopping) while waiting for my moment to cross a busy street, and in that time the auto start/stop has engaged JUST as I am expecting to have the power to shoot the gap. Scary.

I just hate having to remember to hit the diamond button. Also, there are things I'd rather use that button for!

+1. Or the other option (just as quick) is to select Sport Mode in situations when auto stop/start might kick in when not wanted... This also makes the car more responsive :-)

or not try to accelerate like a nutter into a small gap that could potentially cause an accident and simply wait patiently for a safe opportunity to pull out?

I'm not sure if this company offers or plans to offer anything for the Panamera, but there is a solution to the auto start/stop dilemma for the 958.2 gen Cayennes... https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...-defeated.html
