Default Window Tint

This black bad-a$$ Panamera is my first P-car that *begs* for tinting. My guy that has done my tinting in the past for other cars s(not Porsche but M-B and others) says that he has had bad luck with the Panamera because of the tight window channel. He says that he has had issues with scratches on the tint.

Weigh in, people!

Thanks

You should find about it if you do a search in this forum, maybe for tint scratch. I believe you need to install felt-type pads in the channels to prevent scratching.

yes my GTS was tinted by the dealer. it had fine lines from scratches that drove me crazy. no one sees it on the outside.

I am waiting for my new panamera . i will have them tint, i just have to slowly forget about little things that drive me crazy :banged:

good luck with your tinting , hope you have better luck

My 4S has the same issues but I've learned to live with is...besides when I look out the window its just to ensure I can pass safely

Mine is also tinted and the bothfront windows are with scraches. The guy that tint it and that tints all of my cars since 1998 told me that that's normal for Panamera and the new Audi A8.

So.... yeah you have to live with it.

Yeah my tint/detail guy says that without the felt channel you have problems. These guys are detailers to the stars so apparently so they sourced a felt insert with adhesive and tried to do an aftermarket retrofit to provide a softer channel. Apparently the way Porsche does the window channel it is next to impossible to bond the new felt channel to the factory frame. So many solutions "sort of" work but pretty much "not so much"

Just got mine tinted this past week with the felt. When inquiring about pricing and the owner asked what car he immediately asked if I wanted the felt. Very knowledgeable and even went to my house to do it. They basically sized them up and cut it from the outside then take it off then install it inside so its perfectly sized up already. If anyone in NY /North NJ needs a recommendation just PM me.

It's a fact. Picked up my Panny a few weeks ago. Step 1. Tint, Step 2. Wheels. My tint already has scratches so the felt is a necessity.

Would love to find a DIY on removing the door panel to add the felt. I'll be searching for that shortly.

Just A GTS:

Thank you! Just what I was looking for. Saved me from a few searches much appreciated! I don't see a thank you button on these forums. No way to thank?
