I just picked up 2016 Pani 4 Edition with 3.6 engine.
Have few questions.
1. The center storage box under center armrest gets hot. Recently the temperature was hot around 95 but I never seen a car that storage compartment gets hot. Is this normal?
2. I get slight vibration on steering wheel and both front seats when idle.
Once car moves it is very smooth.
I have 997.2 which has same seat vibration but it is different engine.
Does any one know slight seat vibration on panamera v6 is normal?
I want to get some idea before I go to stealership.
My GTS center console gets hot as well. I used to keep a hard drive with music plugged into the USB in there but switched to a solid state drive due to the heat.
My GTS center console gets hot as well. I used to keep a hard drive with music plugged into the USB in there but switched to a solid state drive due to the heat.
Was your heat from hard disk or from the car by itself?
It looks like transmission or exhaust is under the center console.
This motor has 90 degree v configuration which is not optimal for a v6. It may have balance shafts to help but there is only so much you can do. I traded my 4 for a v8 to get better smoothness (and power). I believe what your observing is normal.
it appears you narrowed it down to the difference between the 15 and 16. my 15 is seriously smooth at idle.
Probably right.
I tested 16 demo edition and it had similar vibration. But why on the seat and not in dash or steering wheel is my question. Maybe the exhaust is vibrating but when I checked at dealer, it looked ok to me.
Another member with 15 said that his car is perfect smooth.
1. So center console is normal then. I just removed electronics ipod, phone etc. from center console just in case.
2. Can I adjust idle RPM at dealer? It is about 700 . It is between 800 and 600. I am thinking maybe adjusting idle rpm will change the vibration behavior.
Tech said that he can not adjust idle rpm like mercedes where we can adjust it with star computer connected. I want to make sure what he is saying is correct.
3. It is very interesting that when I get loaner panamera probably 2012~2013, It had no vibration at idle. Like Cebomark said it was very very smooth. This is when my 997.2 had warranty and I used to get service at dealer.
Then I test drove 2016 Panamera 4 edition model, it also had similar vibration at idle like mine. Then I tested another 2016 Panamera 4 Edition at service department, it also had idle vibration.
So this means they changed something in 2016 model. It looks like computer program to me since one of the tech told me that Porsche optimized engine program to minimize emission control and it is causing idle vibration. I am not sure this is right or not but since VW had problem with their emission program, Porsche also changed program in 16 model to avoid
problems. I mean the vibration is very small so it is not somthing like misfire but I can feel the engine vibration on both front seat. Someone wrote a story about his panamera had vibration and dealer changed exhaust connecting point or somthing and it solved his problem. I wonder if this is my case.
