Default Purchasing a Panamera 4

The lease on my current car is up in about 7 months and I am thinking of purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned Panamera 4

Does anyone have any advice, warnings about this car or engine? Anything great about this car? Any option I can’t do without? So far I know I want the Sport Chrono package and the Premium Plus package. I have driven the car a few times, I understand the suspension without the PASM is not very forgiving. Do I need the Premium Plus package?

When I bought my 1999 996 in 2002 it was a Certified Pre-Owned and all went well… but I didn’t know about all the problems the 996 had before I purchased, luckily I haven’t had any major issues. So I figured I would check with some owners first.

Please see some of the problems I had.I think extended warranty COVERING/ ENGINE/ ELECTRICAL is worth while. The car Panamera 4 by itself is great, but the small problems make reliability an issue.

I have a 2011 Panamera 4, besides numerous service campaigns, I only have a defective coolant level sensor replaced and a loose back up camera connection that was causing image interference. The car has been great so far. My car has the following options, Bose, camera, parking sensors, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, rear wiper, rear LED lighting pkg, 4-zone climate control, rear sunshade, side window sunshades, 18 in winter tires, servotronic, xenon lights with PDLS, and I had the dealer to change the window trims from black to chrome(to look like the 4S).

How do u like the 4 wheel drive? Also the ones I have test drove had the sport chrono... Is it worth it? I have a 911 and this would be my every day car.

This is a good question. IMO, it is a must, but, in the other hand, this is one option that makes me mad big time against Porsche. This should be a free option, like debadging.
The only "material" you get with this option is that clock, badly positioned, that does reflects in your windshield, the rest is software, that change the timing of the gearbox.
First we only have the choice of PDK (I would have much preferred a manual gearbox), the reason of this is that Porsche is using this computer driven gearbox to reduce CO2, or, ..to save on taxes that many government addresses to car manufacturers to motivate them to reduce CO2.
So, you pay the price of a sport car, and ..you get one that has been (electronically) castrated. (Case of PDK and no "sport chrono".)
If you want to have a PDK that shift in a more sportive way, you have to get "sport chrono", ..and pay for that, which is in my opinion a total awful attitude. Shame on Porsche for this one, ..big time.

I think I am quite happy with having the AWD, especially we do get lots of snow in here.

Good choice on getting a panamera, it's a great daily driver, comfy yet fun, plus it gets a lot of looks still! A few comments about needs:

1. Make sure you get backup camera, this thing is massive.
2. Lane change assist is a must; once again massive car with massive blind spots.

Btw, the winter here in Indiana has been rough, my GTS has done well handling anything Mother Nature has thrown at it, but I do have a second set of wheels with snow tires.

The rest of options are personal preference, the above are a must. Good luck with your search, that's the fun part!

I have a 2013 Panamera 4 Platinum Edition. If you can find one I highly recommend it. It comes with a lot of features that make it a truly special car.

I concur.

I agree that the car has blind spots, but I don't care for lane assist and I never had a problem without it (or with it turned off).

I test drove a Panamera and then I test drove a Panamera S and I could never go back to the 6. But that's me.

I also suggest that you get the air suspension option if you like a slightly less harsh ride. Of course, that also requires PASM, which isn't a bad idea either.
