did you resolve the oil pressure issue ? Ive recently bought 4.8 2010 S panemera, I get interment oil pressure fault, its just does not respond. I have changed the sensor but its still the same. We looked at the ECU and its really corroded, but this is a £1500 fix, What peoples advice, ?? Only happens occasionally but if its the ecu why are no other faults occurring ?? Also will I get an accurate oil level reading when the oil pressure sensor is not working on that day ?? tempted to live with it but tricky to know oil levels. Is the ecu a sealed unit or can it be worked on ?? what else could it be if not for ecu ?? I dont want to keep chasing the fault and spending money !! thanks for any advice..

could be oil pressure sensor, or wring , or engine control unit, or oil pump.. The oil pressure sensor is the easy and cheapest fix at £150 plus fitting. my problem is it didn't fix it.. which means it could be the oil pump, engine control unit or wring, all of which are each in excess of £1500. so go carefully.. the biggest issue is their is no manual dip stick so you reply on digital read outs.

Im still not sure if my oil level is accurate when the oil pressure sensor is not working, im looking into this now.

amazing cars, but know what your getting into, maintenance costs are very high. !!

Its the plastic hoses directly behind the manifold. The age causes them to crack, the most vulnerable location is the T plastic junction behind the manifold. Make sure the manifold and oil catch reservoir are torqued to spec. If you see any oil at these 2 places re-seal with new gaskets. You can re-use the gaskets if they are in good condition.

what is the purpose of these hoses? Do they see full oil pressure?

The sender is a variable voltage device. It is also a combination sensor, providing both oil temperature and pressure. There are 4 wires going to it, Brown with a white stripe is the ground, Red with a violet stripe is 5V supply. Blue is oil pressure signal and gray with a green stripe is the oil temperature signal. If you have no oil temp issues, then the ground and power are working correctly. To test the sender, you need only read the output of the blue pin (you'll need one of those needle probes to poke in the back of the connector) with a multimeter. The other end of the voltmeter can go to the brown wire or to ground anywhere. The voltage should vary from 0 to 5v depending on pressure. Use a digital multimeter and if you have a solid signal that varies with pressure, your sender is functioning correctly. Be careful as the sender is near the timing belt, you will need to rig up something to ensure your wires dont get caught in the moving belt. You can also test the signal at the engine control module It can be lifted out of its place. Loosen the lower nut (no need to remove the nut the lower boss has a slot to make it easy to remove) and remove the two upper bolts. The plastic cover over the module is tricky. It has two half turn plastic screws, then in the corner nearest the center of the car, it has a plastic pin that is lifted straight up, and finally when that is loose, it slides back towards the fender. Only the Germans could come up with something like that. You can find the pressure signal at pin 16 of connector B. Again, you will need to grab the signal by back probing the wire. If the signal is good, then the problem is the ECM, there is no part in between. It is safer to test at the ECM since there is no belt, but it requires loosening the aforementioned nut and removing the two screws that hold it in place.

Thumbs up Same Issue & fixed.......

Hey all!!

I had the same issue back in 6/2021 on my '12 Pana Turbo S. Dealer changed the sensor & the oil pump under my warranty. I have zero issues since. Very happy with my dealer. Also had the entire components of air suspension changed too back in 4/2021. No cost to me on both services thank goodness!!!

Happy Holidays!!

Thumbs up PROBLEM SOLVED

Hi everyone,
after having this problem for 2 years and all kinds of 'specialists' weren't able to help me but my new mechanic fixed it!
He replaced the OIL PUMP SOLENOID VALVE and voila - no more warnings! It's part of the oil pump but as you see, you don't need to replace the whole pump as earlier mentioned. The part is $490 and with hours and taxes I paid $1000.

hello sir

I replaced both oil pump solenoid , oil sender unit , replaced the oil and fixed the leaks and it still gives the fault . As soon as I press the throttle hard the oil preasure jumps like crazy at 5bars and wont come easily down .
I must say that previous owner maybe neglected the car because the tip of the guide that holds the timing chain was broken and I had to replace chain to . Maybe the oil pump is cloged . Should I flush the engine with additive and go with the thicket 5-50w oil . Did your car get repaired directyle after changing the solenoid or did you reset anything on piwis ?

[i thought mine was the solution but it seems it can have many causes.
I’m not a mechanic so I can’t help.

For those who are having issues with oil preasure dropping when you push the car a bit, change the oil to 5W50 and problem is gone

Default The average Porsche oil pressure is 3.5 oil hot acc4.

How far does your oil pressure gauge go when you rev it up? Mine goes all the way to 5 bar. I wonder if that's normal.
The average Porsche oil pressure is 3.5 with new oil & filter & 2.5 with old oil hot now when accelerating it should be at 4.5 to 5 within oil pressure meter that’s across all Porsche forums
