Default Previously Owned Panamera Value in 5 Years?

Any guesses as to what a well-appointed (not fully loaded) 2010 Panamera 4S will be going for in 2015?

If this projection is realistic I'll start planning now.

I'd say about 45% of current MSRP. Give or take.

that website stacks EVERYTHING up.. like it says tho, the car alone is like 45% of MSRP... the other costs are pretty much fixed imo.

These depreciation projections are too vague. You could look at the lease residuals, but I think the proof of the case is to look at the range of residuals year over year for the Cayenne of equivalent model. The higher the msrp, the greater the dollar and percentage drop. F'rinstance, the '05 Cayenne (v6) was worth about $30K in 2009 for a very nice example. I am familiar with this pricing comparison because I had a Cayenne Power Kit Turbo with an msrp in '05 of $130K+ and in 2009, with 25-30K miles, it could not find a buyer at $40K. For a very good condition 2010 Panamera S around $100K msrp with similarly low miles in 2014, I'd be astonished to see a market price (adjusted) above $35K.

General rule of used cars market value is that practically all optional extras loose at least 90% of their value during first few years. If base model is 100k and fully loaded version is 150k in 5 years difference is 35 vs 40 or something similar. Panamera will not be exception and is likely to get hit even harder than normal average cars as options are expensive.

IMHO 33% after 5 years on luxury high production vehicles......... so people can readily afford them...

Even though we hold these cars near and dear to our hearts ... at the end of the day they are just cars and will depreciate according to what the market says. I personally think an 'S' will probably be in the mid-30's.

That's probably a good estimate.

Porsches internal residiual projection on a 2011 4S in 5 years is 31%

I think there'd be pently of people willing to commit to sell at 45% of MSRP. If car futures existed, I'd be all-in short at 45.

I think they will hold their value better than you think. I just took a look at 2006 Cayenne S's on cars.com for a comparison of sorts. If you look at cars with 50k miles or less, the absolute cheapest listing is $29k and the bulk are around $35k. And the MSRP of the Cayenne S in 2006 was only $57k, so they're selling for approx 50% of original retail @ 5 yrs old. Way too expensive if you ask me.

I think the Panny will hold its value even better than a Cayenne given its uniqueness and popularity. (this is definitely true with the current model year used cars)

Just my two cents....

Selling or asking?

Plus, I think you are talking about the MSRP w/o options. I think the typical 2006 S MSRP was more like 65. Here is one that was 69345 and is asking 28k (~41%):

33 cents on the dollar is a great estimate, IMO. Of course depends on who u buy it from in 5 years (dealer or personal sale). Dealer higher, of course

Interesting thread to revive.
I had ordered a V6 for my wife, but she saw it in white and said "no."
I was then offered a Turbo at a significant discount. Still probably not significant enough, but certainly in the ballpark of what would make for a reasonable financial proposition in terms of lease and residual.
