Default How to disable two beeps on locking

I live in a condominium building and hate to disturb neighbors at 2 am when locking my car. I am told by the dealer that there is no way to disable the auditory signal when locking the car. Can this be true?

Thanks in advance for help.

Your lucky. Mine has never beeped upon locking and I can never be sure it has locked. Wish I could figure out how to turn it on but my dealer says it cant be done.

I don't know about Cayennes, but Panameras seem to beep twice upon locking to let you know it's locked.

Try this:

Click on the steering wheel: vehicle >settings > volume > warn. tones

This should give you volume options

Default 2010 vs 2011

My Panny does not use the horn at all during the locking sequence.

Perhaps it is a 2010 vs 2011 thing. But it is more likely software-related which makes me wonder why some use the horn and others don't.

Curious.

Cheers, JohnnyB

Default From the 2011 Panamera owner's manual....

Locking doors
Locking with the key
1. Close the door.
2. Press button once.
The emergency flasher flashes twice and an
acoustic signal will sound twice.
The doors cannot be opened from outside.

The audible feedback is optional and it can be programmed with the piwis tester. You should ask again because is possible.

From my dealer this morning.....

After reading your email, I came in this morning, and connected the tester to a new Panamera on our lot. We again pored over all of the available menus and options in the tester, and disabling audible feedback when locking is not listed anywhere that we can find in any of the coding or adaptations available for modification. I had already done this connected to your vehicle, but the software is updated from time to time, and I wanted to make sure nothing had changed with the software of the tester since then. My last option is to submit a technical assistance request to Porsche, which I have just done. This will give us the final word on if this option change is available. I will let you know as soon as I hear back from Porsche if there is an available option or work around to disable the horns when locking.

Sincerely,

Chris Stone

Latest update by phone from the dealer after he talked with Porsche.....

The new 2011 Pamameras with "entry and drive" do allow disabling the beep on locking. Earlier models without that feature do not. Porsche is working on a retrofit to allow.

So, I guess this puts it to rest for now.

Panam,

On the 2011 cars I assume this has to still be done by the dealer? Is that your understanding?

I can't find the option anywhere in the PCM menus.

Thanks!

Yes, my understanding is that it still needs to be done by the dealer.
