Default I just located the TPMS antenna / module on the 971

Here are photos. As mentioned before it is directly in front of the right rear tire. Accessible under the vehicle. You will need to jack up 2 or 3 inches to wiggle your body back there.

press the side clip of the connector and tug to release. Then you need to yank downward the other side of the sensor to release it from retain clip.

Interesting. I bet it got water damaged. Check the connector for corrosion and put some dielectric lube.

Not sure if there was corrosion. The connector is well sealed. But I think with the sensor out in the elements it is bound to fail. I replaced it today and the TPMS systemed went through its self diagnosed learning. And after about 5 miles the light was gone and I had readings in all tires! Yippee.
