Default ‘23 Panamera window tint

Hey all,

Just grabbed a 23 Panamera GTS Sport Turismo. I know the older models had some issues scraping the window tint on at least the driver’s door; anyone know if this problem still exists with the 23MY??

Yup. I have a '23 and the window tint has plenty of scratches. I've learned to overlook it. Great car.

They never "fixed" this, it's the thickness of the glass. Tint it and try not the roll the windows down lol.

Some people have a strip of felt installed on the inside of the door card to help prevent scratches. Kinda helps but overtime that felt will accumulate dirt and scratch up your tint anyway.

I had this done for my '23 GTS and so far so good, but I'm also only at 3k miles lol.

Sweet ST!

I had the dealer install tint and the front window UV reducer (forget term) when new - 2 years later, no issues. I could be the lucky one or the contractor the dealer uses is/was exceptional. 2022 GTS ST, 11k

Cheers!

edit - for reference, no acoustic glass, no felt strip.

I have a Panamera in Chalk that desperately needs a tint job. Local installer says we must do felt for each of the windows which involves removing the door panels. From your post, it looks like you went this direction? How is it? My installer wants $1500 for all four windows. I really want a tint job as think this will complete the look but haven’t moved forward yet.

I like my tints. Shop did a good job too. I haven't noticed any issues with the door cards (no damage, creaks, rattles, etc). The tints still look scratch free, but again my car has only been driven 3k miles at this point.
My shop only charged 500 for tints though. Not sure if thats because I also paid for full PPF so they gave me a bundle deal.

50% tint on the front 3 windows, 70% on the rear 3. Looks even darker in this pic cause I just washed the car so the windows were extra shiny lol.

Both 971s I've owned had vertical scratching in the window tint and neither had the thicker acoustic glass. I mostly just live with it, but once it gets really bad I will take off the door panels to install those felt strips and pay someone to re tint.

1,500 seem a bit much. I paid 200 with tax to have my front two windows on my GLE in Ceramic tint. Tint job for a full car if you're not tinting the windshield should be around 5-700 on the expensive side 800-850. Not 1,500. And there's 5 windows that need to be tinted not 4. So is your tinter not tinting the back glass?

Yep. I have a medical exception with a lil sticker from DMV that goes with it. No issues with cops so far.
Was a bit worried about night driving at first but it hasnt been an issue with 50%.

1500 is crazy. Removing the door panels is not a big deal. Maybe you are getting hit with the Porsche tax. I make sure my garage door is closed when I have contractors come to estimate work.
