I posted on this thread about a year ago. I've had the noise since picking the car up in Feb 2024. I've put around 7k miles on the car with no issues associated with the noise. (knock on wood).

FWIW
I have a 2010 997.2 turbo so I don’t know how relevant my situation was to this thread. I had a similar sound as the revs got up there. That it has700 HP probably didn’t help. Somebody said waste gate. Finally a friend said to try belt dressing to diagnose and there was an improvement. So, I replaced the tensioner, the pullies and the belt. Water pump too while I was in there. No more weird noise. So, as someone above said, I’d try belt dressing to see its affect.

I have this same sound and mine is for sure not the waste gate, or blow off noise.

Mine is a definitive chirp.

I thought tensioner belt because it seemed to be more prevalent when raining, or after a car wash. They also did the water pump so the belt had to come off.

Now it is happening nearly constantly on most shifts. It is a squeak and not sure what in the trans would cause this, If it was a bushing or something I imagine you'd hear it more often just not at shifts.

I have a similar noise on my 17 Panamera Turbo and have noticed it for several years. Mine is usually on a cold engine at about 60%+ Throttle between 2nd and 3rd to a lesser extend between 3rd and 4th when shifting at about 4500 RPM. It is also more pronounced with a cold ambient temperature. I've noticed that the boost PSI gauge is usually just building to about 10PSI and then it zeros. And I don't seem to get it on slow starts where there is no boost. Now that I think of it I might also be getting off throttle about the same time I hear that noise. I don't think I have the noise when driving hard or shifting high enough to maintain boost. I've pretty much convinced myself that the noise (at least in my case) is the blow off. This sound was present both before and after BOTH turbos were replaced. I also recently had the scheduled transmission service and there were no signs transmission damage. I lean on this as a normal noise, but I have had both turbos replaced, so IDK. I'm not showing any symptoms of issues and the car still pulls and shifts well, so I'll keep driving like I always have.

I became a lot more comfortable with turbo noises after getting my 992 4S Cab, where there's nothing but various whooshing noises every touch of the throttle.

We just completed a 2800 mile road trip.

It's there almost all the time now. Park throttle 1-2, two three and three four shifts.

Quote: I saw another post about this issue but no cause or solutions, so I post this in a seperate thread ;-)

In my 2018 Panamera 4s Sport Turismo I sometimes hear a noise when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and sporadically when shifting from 4th to 5ft
It's not consistant en rather hard to reproduce, but I was able to catch it on video which I enclosed

It seems to be more frequent with a cold engine, but even when it is on temperature I hear it now and then.

Does anyone have an idea what the cause of this could be?

Looking forward to your replies!

i also have the same noise in the same car, curious if anything has changed?

I had the whoo sound on my 2018 4 ST. Definitely came from the front of the car/engine bay area The whoo sound was more prevalent in cold weather until the engine warmed up. The sound was barely noticeable in warm weather.

I now have a 2022 4SE ST and no whoo sound(so far).

Same here
I have a 2018 Porsche panamera 4, I have had that woo sound when shifting from 2-3. I've had the vehicle for 3 years I have not had any issues with it and no one can find out what it is. The best I can think of is probably either a torque converter or something to do with a turbo. I do feel it also in colder weather.

Hello guys, have the same "Whoo" issue on 2018 Panamera 4s, but when it is minus temperature Celsius, it is very bad noise inside, but after 5-10 minutes, this noise disapear. This whoo sound also very loud on cold, after warming it is even not always happen, as for me this sound is in 1800-2000 RPM or more.

Someone fixed the issue or maybe even found the root cause?

As the temps have dropped I notice it more but I also notice it delayed, like .5-1.0 second behind the shift and I wonder is it the other side of the trans shifting into the next expected gear?

My 2017 Panamera Turbo makes that same noise when the engine is cold, and under somewhat heavy throttle (Almost every morning, leaving work, and making a right turn before traffic). It sounds similar to the High-Flow Boost Bypass Valve I once had in my 2015 Subaru WRX.

My car was at the dealer for some suspension issues, and I asked them to run this down again. They heard it this time, but they claim they compared it to another Panamera and it also made the same noise. So they're saying its normal and refused to dig into it anymore. The tech did admit that it is likely air escaping because the boost was around 17psi every time we heard it.

yea couldn't this just be the recirculating blow off valve?? maybe under certain conditions it cracks open slightly and makes this whistle/whoo sound. that or

Oplossing

Joachim Keulemans [/QUOTE
