For a deep clean, I use Simple Green. Then I just use normal car wash soap during car washes. I used a wheel brush to get in there to clean them when i wash the car. I use this brush.

I find it best to use plain old soap and water. Sometimes the calipers will get stained- the worst (non removable) is when a shop bleeds the brakes and doesn't blow the residual brake fluid out of the top of the bleeders- brake fluid melts the paint.

I would try brake dust cleaner and power washer. Roll car forward a little bit and go again. Should get you clean but not show car clean.
just be cautious on first drive after to make sure pads grip. Also, check compatibility with your rims

I'm very hesitant to use pre-formulated wheel/tire/brake cleaners. They are often very aggressive. This makes them good for the person that just wants a quick solution, but has high risk of damaging wheel or caliper finishes.
For me: Soap, water, elbow grease (and lots of microfibers/shop rags if you haven't done it in a while).
Wheels off for a good clean maybe once a year, other than that just "between the spokes" during regular washes.

Welcome to the forum.
My Macan wheels were specifically selected to permit access for washing brake dust from the caliper and the inner wheel barrel.
Mine are cleaned w/ car wash soap and a sponge at each wash and are maintained to be in new / clean condition.
If the vehicle wheels preclude interior access, then yes, removal and replacement is required.
My ratcheting jack stands permit "easy" raising / lowering the vehicle for wheel removal.
NOTE, never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack, as a jack can / will fail suddenly and w/o warning, permitting injury.

Just as a warning, when I was spraying some brake cleaner near my calipers when doing a brake job, it made the paint run where the lettering was. Fortunately it was just a small amount, but just be careful. I think something like Dawn soap and a brush is all I would use.
