Default 2023 GTS 12v battery change necessary

My 2023 GTS indicated both in the smart services and on the mobile application
indicates the battery needs changing. Local dealership has tested the battery and has reached out to Porsche concerning the issue. They’ve had it for almost two weeks. The car is not quite a year old. Is anyone else having this issue. My guess it is a bad BMS sensor or the battery is testing good but actually bad.

Couldn’t the dealer just replace the battery to see if the issue goes away? Seems unnecessary to keep your car for two weeks.

That’s the exact question I asked. Bottom line. If they can’t fix this. I’ll sell it. I really love the car but to me this is a real fixable issue and will become my last Porsche after what I paid for it

Time to find another dealer, looks to me they don’t want fix anything for you. All they have to do is drop in a new battery, reset the battery age in the system to see if it fixes the issue. Shouldn’t even take them an hour. I hope at least they gave you a loaner for the two weeks they are keeping your car.

Yes I’m in a loaner. They keep messaging Porsche and waiting on responses. Im with you and have mentioned it to them. But they said since it’s under warranty and test good Porsche has to approve it. At this point the issue is doing two things. Taking up a lift at their shop and pissing me off.

Sorry to hear, hopefully you get an answer soon. I doubt they leave your car on the lift, most likely left outside parking lot when it is not being worked on.

Stopped in to get my parking card and it was on the lift. Mechanic was there and said it was software based and they no longer can reset it. Waiting on the third party developer to do their thing.

This is absurd. How and why do they build such complexity into such simple things? It's a freaking battery! We sympathize w/ your frustration and hope your dealer comes to their senses soon!

I agree. Shouldn’t be so complicated.

My 2023 GTS has the same problem. The local dealer said the battery was fine and they contacted Porsche. I do not have an answer working on a month. The car has been fine otherwise. The dealer indicated that some of the 12V batteries had sensor problems, but I have no indication that my car had that issue.

Wow.

This will truly impact my future decisions on Porsche. I honestly believe if they swap the battery it will fix it. But they keep saying software. Hopefully we both will get resolution.

Any chance this was related to the extreme cold temps from the past week?

I also have a 2023 GTS but only 1.6k miles on it so far. Had it parked out in near 0F this past weekend, no battery issues though luckily. (Unrelated but I did get "Reduced engine power, consult a workshop, driving permitted" error, probably cause oil temps were at 30F on startup lol)

In the winter, if i don’t drive the car for a few days, i always hook it up with a ctek and keep the battery in full charge. Strange things happened when battery juice is running low.

I drive mine regularly as it is my everyday car. I’m in week three now of it sitting in the shop. I truly believe it it a battery or sensor

The local Porsche dealer indicated that they have replaced the 12V battery due to a bad sensor as the sensor is contained in the circuitry of the battery. I am not sure how they test for a bad sensor. My GTS has no indication in the car that there is a problem with the 12 V battery, but the indication for replacement is a iOS and website indication. I cannot understand why it takes three weeks for this problem. . .
