Default Fueling problem

Attempted first fuel tank fill today on my 2018 Panamera Turismo. No matter what position I placed the nozzle, I could only get gas for 3-4 seconds before it tripped off as if fuel was backing up in the fill pipe leading to the tank. Over 15 minutes I was only able to add 9 gallons before I gave up. That filled the tank to 3/4 full. I was operating the fill nozzle by hand and using the lightest pressure. Any thoughts as to where I’m going wrong?

Its probably something going on with the vent system for the tank.

dd you try a different station, perhaps a different station of a different brand? Not with a 971, but with my 997, I experienced pump tripping before the tank is full, tried a different station, there was no issue. I don’t know what it is, perhaps the pump was the problem, not necessary your car.

Had this happen on a different brand. Was related to an anti siphon valve that was malfunctioning.

Had this happen only once and it was the failure of the car to vent. Normally when I push the button it takes a second then pops the lid. For whatever reason ((I think the car may have been on that one time but not sure) I had the exact problem you mention. Never happened again. I would definitely say it is your car not the gas station.

Be very deliberate, maybe even pop the lid twice, see if that helps.

Added fuel yesterday at a different station. At this one the nozzles did not have anything on them that would seal the tank spout during fueling. They had a plain metal nozzle. I had no trouble at all filling the tank. My conclusion is that the nozzle at the other station had a rubber seal that when the nozzle was inserted into the filler spout, it would seal the connection, probably to prevent fuel vapors from escaping. If the air in the tank could not escape past that seal, the nozzle would trip off.
