Default Gas pedal notch when floored

On the S model when cramming the gas pedal to the floor WOT there is a 1/2" notch right when fully holding it down. It's like it is fighting my foot to not do that, lol. Is this some sort of launch enhancement mode or efficiency thing that affects turbos, cycling valve or boost/wastegate op? Or maybe safety feature?

It has been a German car thing for the past 20 years. Max power only obtainable with the button pressed at the bottom of pedal travel.

Thanks. This is my first modern Porsche I only have owned 80's manual shift cars the past 25 years.

I think it's only on the V6 cars? Our V6 Macan has the "notch" (same engine as Panamera). Our V8 Panamera does not.

Is it a GTS or Turbo S v8?

2018 Turbo

GTS has the same engine as the Turbo/S. Just different tuning. GTS reportedly has a different transmission than the Turbo.

I believe the "notch" you are referring to is more commonly known as the kick-down switch. Commonly found at the bottom of A-pedal travel in cars with auto trans.

i'm also very interested in this topic, I have a Turbo S Panamera from 2013 and when I push through the notch and floor it, the car drops into 3rd, and goes completely nuts.
My friend told me his Macan doesn't do it, and i was told me car isn't tuned, so i'm not sure whether it has one of these pedal response thingies installed, or whether it's just part of the car.
