I came across this video on youtube and was curious what your thoughts are and if anyone has experienced a similar issue. Link is down below. Does this problem plague the 2.9 engines? Also does the 4/4s use a 2.9 or 3.0 engine? Which one is the more reliable one.
I was concerned about this too, so scoped the left valve cover through the oil fill on my wife's 2019 Panamera 3.0 liter 2WD base, and she has the larger rollers. Look at 6:40 minutes into the video. You can see that the shoulder flat of the axle pins are smaller with the newer rocker. In facts, the diameter of the flat is about the same diameter as the larger roller pins themselves, compared to the older design with small rollers and wide flange axle.
I think this is a thing in 2017 and 2018 Audis, and you would think Panamera 971s too, but nothing definitive on this board about it. There was a ticking EA389 on this board, and it was the counter-balancer shaft (bearings/sprocket ??) that needed to be changed.
Both 2.9 and 3.0 EA389 series engines (single and dual turbo) are identical in this area, as far as camshaft-valve actuation-lifter followers go. See page 15 of the attachment.
Pana-4S uses the 2.9 liter, but the Pana and Pana-4 uses the 3.0 liter.

Agree with the above post. No rocker arm failures (so far) reported on rennlist for Macan, Panamera or Cayenne. The larger diameter rollers and related parts seem to be the fix.
