Default Thoughts on 2020 GTS ST?

I have an order request in for a 2023 base model ST, although no actual allocation yet. In the mean time I've been open to a used Sport Turismo if the right color/options/price came around. I've come across a 2020 GTS ST, original MSRP was $152k, has 35k miles and is being offered for ~$105k. It has all of the options I would want except surround view parking and potentially heads up display. Exterior color is fine, interior color not my first choice but I could live with it. The car has 1 year left on original warranty and then another 2 on the CPO. Lightening rod question but what are people's thoughts on price/strategy and tradeoff of waiting for the 2023 based model that I build exactly to my specifications which probably ends up being ~$125k or a used base/GTS/Turbo that's a couple years old and at least $20k cheaper?

After driving my 2020 Panamera GTS ST for the past 3.5 years and getting an occasional base model from time to time, I have to say that I would not trade my car in for a newer base model because of the options on my car. The surround view and RAS make my car so maneuverable, especially while parking and the V8 engine helps make it a joy to drive.

At the end of the day, I always recommend getting the car that you prefer and will love. If the colors aren’t right or it’s missing a few options that you want, don’t compromise on the purchase. If you’re patient, the right CPO will come along or enough time will have passed so that you can order a new car in the exact specification that you want.

These cars are expensive enough to not exactly love when you get them. That said, good luck with whichever way you decide.

Rear active steering was a must and I turned down another car because it didn’t have it. Surround view would be nice, but I don’t think is a deal killer.

As a previous 2018 ST (4S) owner, I was frustrated by the menu structure (and general performance) of the PCM. This car requires SO much interaction via the PCM, that I would make sure you weigh the PCM-interaction heavily in your decision. To that point, I'd get with your local dealer and spend some time in a 2018-2021 Panamera...and then do a direct comparison with a 2022-2023 Pan.

I'm lurking back in this forum because I'm bored with my 2017 BMW 3-series wagon...and thinking to pivot into a Panamera (as I can still get my road bike in it). As back-up to my comment above, I'm heading down a 3-way comparison among:
  • 2015--2016 Panamera (with the MEGA-analog interface)
  • Buy a used 2022-2023 ST (or maybe the sedan)
  • Order a BASE 2023 ST to my specification (which like you, comes in at $124-$127K)
Thank you for posting up your situation, and best wishes on what you decide.

I had a 2018 Cayenne with the last generation PCM and agree it wasn’t my favorite. I think BMW has a much better interface, I’m currently in a BMW X7. I’m also a road biker and ironically it’s a struggle to get the bike in the back of the BMW because the captains chairs don’t go fully down, big flaw. I do have a Kuat rack at the back which is great, but unfortunately the Panamera’s no longer have the rear hitch in the US. There seem to be lots of sedan’s on the market, the sport turismo is definitely a smaller universe. I like the styling of the ST better and I think it has slightly larger cargo volume which is important.

Get the GTS. The V8 is amazing and likely the last one you will ever be able to own new(er) in your lifetime.

Your call. GTS vs base is apples vs oranges.

Buy the GTS if the power is what you want. Order a new base if zero problems for a few years is what you want.

Cool. I heard they are bringing it back to the Cayenne S too. Get one while you can. I'd guess gone forever by 2028, but who knows.

Don't know where you heard the 4S will have a V8. They don't now and there are no plans to change that. If anything, I would be concerned that all the V8's will be phased out.

Maybe a guess based on the refreshed Cayenne, with the Cayenne S getting a V8?

I love my GTS estate. I have a 971.2 however so I can't speak for pre v6 pcm. I have had one or two nit picks but overall this is a way better vehicle than my previous w213 e63amg estate. I will say I don't know if the V8 is long for this world. I sure hope so. I won't be letting go of my panamera unless they show up with a turbo gt panamera estate of some kind. A boy can dream

Hey Richard! I am currently in the process of speccing my new Panamera GTS (am at 60k eur of options lol) and was wondering, what are those one or two nit picks that you've had? Also do you have PCCB on your car?

I have every single performance option....so yes. But I'm also the mad lad who tracks wagons lol. I put my E63 and Panamera estate on track. You can most likely skip it

As for issues my pcm keeps resetting my audio settings (bass treble surround etc) a few of us have that problem. Also my tailgate on very rare occasion won't close. It will go down, pause, and come back up half way. It was constant before delivery. Now it happens every blue moon.
