Default Best diagnostic tool

New to these forums. I have a 2018 e-hybrid. My VAG tool can't connect. What is the best interface and software to run full diagnostics. I know enough about the electronics to be dangerous but not an expert. Thanks

iCarsoft new version 3.0 works on my 2018 Turbo. Can reset oil and maintenance reminders, retract rear parking brakes and do various other functions. I think they are still selling out the v2.0 units which you buy in a labeled v3.0 box, then plug into your PC to update the software to v3.0. That's how mine came from Amazon, but I bought when v3.0 first came out a few months ago so may be different now.

I plan to buy the iCarsoft CR Pro. Seems to work on late model Porsches and BMWs, which are both in my fleet.

Thank you for your replies. I'd like to hear from anyone with an e-Hybrid. I'm looking at the Foxwell NT710.

Porsche software itself is the best, PIWIS. But does cost some coin. Complete over kill if your just looking to reset oil change or service intervals or just doing brake job.

Icarsoft V3.0 is easy to use and does most things people need to accomplish. Used there systems on many cars over the years.

Be careful depending on the year of Porsche your buying the diagnostic tool your looking at as some that cost quite a bit of money don't even reset simple service intervals.

IMO PIWIS is worth the learning curve. Cost is very reasonable with members like @rnlst_log on this forum.

For those that are wondering, I bought the foxwell NT710. It is advertised as the “upgraded version of the NT530” but this is not true. The NT530 has Porsche coding/programming capabilities but the NT710 does not. Hopefully this post saves someone a few hundred $.

I bought the NT710 because I added cruise control on my 997 hoping that I could code it to work but no luck unfortunately.

Following up on this, I bought an iCarsoft CR MAX and it turns off the maintenance interval light on the 9Y0.1 Cayenne and successfully performs many actuation tests. I haven't tried all actuation tests. Also I have not tried the park brake retraction function yet.

It also works on BMW and specifically works on park brake retraction. We have a BMW in the garage so this was helpful.

The iCarsoft CR MAX is well built and easy to use.

Hi, did you try the actuation test (brakes) yet? I am thinking about the Max Pro (2019 Panamera) and wonder if the Max is inclusive of all the features the 3.0 POR (specific to Porsche) has. You'd think yes, just for more car makes, but sooo hard to get info from the mfg.

Default Can a PWIS reset TPMS?

Reason for the ask is I have a set of tires I use solely for AX and Track.

For the last few months the 992 PCM will not "learn" when I reinstall the road set of tires.

I end up having to schedule a time to visit the Dealer and have them "manually reset"...that is such an inconvenience to state it diplomatically.

Would a PWIS allow me to reset the TPMS?

Or would that unit be overkill?

Down the road I would like to change my own oil and the like so maybe even the more economical OBD versions mentioned here.are a better choice?

Looking for some help Oh Wise Ones.

I got the PIWIS from this guy too for about the price of an iCar or similar. He can show you how to code features on or off as well. I was able to turn off auto stop start and turn on PSE. However, it is not user friendly, and I think its overkill if you just need to relearn TPMS and reset maintenance intervals. It also only works on Pcars. If you have other makes in your garage you might benefit from something like iCar or Autel.

The instructions are on the 971 PSE install instructions in another thread, but he remoted in to do it on my car so I couldn't tell you exactly. As for auto start stop, I am only able to remove the function and button from the PCM. I dont think you can keep it and make it remember the last selection. Its very easy though.

For the start&stop i've modified it to have the last mode and it's ok. 970 is different that 971.
