Have you tried loosening and/or removing plug? Then try install again. I’ve had them get stuck but by wiggling socket they’ll come loose. If can get out with plug might follow tip I’ve see before of drilling hole in socket and running wire thru hole so can pull it out if needed. Good luck.
Remove your trim piece at the washer reservoir, it will allow more room, only 3 screws hold it in place. I had a similar issue yesterday.
And then use a long pair of needle nose pliers or a magnet of sorts.
