Deposit questions
Yet another question. Thank you in advance for helping me learn the process, with which I am unfamiliar.
When ordering (custom build) did the dealer require a deposit?
How much?
At what point in the transaction?
I tried using the search function, but didn’t find much info on what is normal.

I’m new here and just bought my first Porsche, so take it for what it’s worth. 718 GT4, 5K deposit taken when my order was formally submitted to Porsche and entered in the system. I was on the dealers list for 5 months prior to getting an allocation. When submitted I also had the paperwork showing the order and the agreed sales price including ADM.

For reference:
2022 GTS Sport Turismo
Order Demand submitted November 2021 - no deposit at this time. I submitted several Order Demands around the country with the goal of pulling the trigger with the first dealer that provided allocation.
No ADM.
Mid-Jan, $5k deposit once Commission number was secured.
I have to look at my contract, but I think there will be another deposit due when car is released from production (right about now). The next milestone payment/deposit will get to 10% of the agreed upon price or another ~$12k, for a total of $17k.
It is all negotiable. This was my first Porsche from this dealer and I was just happy to get an allocation.

Dealer had an allocation (because I searched many dealers until I found one) and asked for 10% down to lock in the order. Two months or so to play with options and then the build locked a month before production. Remainder due at delivery.

I got $4200 (3%) off by using that dealer, no one else would go below MSRP and some were 10% above. Thus I made 30% on my deposit by using that particular dealer...(3% on 10%)...granted, no where near your fantastical ability to make 800% per year on investments.
And oh, by the way, the deposit was refundable until lock and after that if they sold the car. So all I really lost was the $50 in interest I would have made by that money sitting in the bank from Aug-Dec.
Perhaps you could keep this kind of trolling to yourself next time.

If your intent was to make me feel bad, or stupid, it didn't work. If you can double your money every four months, make 8:1 per year, 1000:1 every 40 months...just wait a few years and buy everyone on this forum a new car.

I think the key here is "I would have made $50 in interest by that money sitting in the bank from Aug-Dec"
Scared Money doesn't make no money, that's why you can't wrap your head around doubling your money

Whoa someones a little insecure about their 10% down. It wasn't a shot at you princess, it was a shot at the dealers. I've been getting the same quotes and I feel they're high. Every dealer I've talked is charging over MSRP and the deposit is non refundable. I think 5k for ordering is acceptable, nothing over.

Perfect internet response - start calling names and blaming the person you are harassing for taking it wrong. Adds nothing to the discussion but makes you feel good for a few seconds of your miserable existence. Of course the money was sitting in a bank. If I had to sell investments to pay for the car, I would have decided I couldn't afford it.

Most dealers are asking for 10% down on the total MSRP vs just options. I also feel as @Shuga said that 10% on Total MSRP is just the dealers taking advantage. 25% down on options isn't bad
