Full screen CarPlay for 2017+ Panamera available

Let me just say that the process to get Full Screen mode was extremely painless. The hardest part was waiting for the AX88772 Ethernet Adapter to arrive after ordering it on Amazon. Here are some things that I needed to figure out before getting everything going.
1. My laptop does not have a built-in Ethernet connector so a second adapter was needed. Luckily, I had my Apple Ethernet connector for that purpose.
2. I had to ensure that I had a good WiFi signal and connection in my garage.
3. I needed to download TeamViewer on my laptop so that Raymond could “remote in” and download the file.
4. I had a micro SD card and the card adapter which I plugged into the “SD2” card slot in my glove box because the “SD1” card slot did not recognize the micro SD.
5. The AX88772 adapter needs to be plugged into the laptop in the beginning so the appropriate drivers could be downloaded onto it. Raymond took care of that quite quickly.
6. After everything was downloaded, Full Screen file and AX88772 driver file, I plugged my Apple Ethernet connector into my laptop.
7. I plugged a CAT 7 Ethernet cable into the Apple connector and then plugged the other end of the cable into the AX88772.
8. I plugged the AX88772 USB-A into my USB port in the center console.
9. I started the car and Raymond did the rest.
10. The PCM restarted and I plugged in my iPhone. Waze soon popped up in Full Screen mode and I still maintained all the shortcut widgets on the left and right side of the screen.
11. Make sure you have your VIN available. I had it in a note so that I could easily copy & paste it into our WhatsApp conversation when he needed it during the setup.
12. Overall setup: WiFi to computer; Laptop — Apple Ethernet Connect — Ethernet cable — AX88772 Ethernet Adapter — USB port in center console; Micro SD card in SD2 slot in glove box.
Raymond was great throughout the entire process from start to finish. He was very patient with me when I asked tons of questions about how everything else was going to be connected as I couldn’t figure it out. I thought the laptop was going to need a hard-wire connection and couldn’t wrap my head around how everything was going to be sorted.
If anyone is interested in doing this, Raymond was a stand-up guy and made the entire process super easy. It’s a shame that Porsche couldn’t just turn on Apple Carplay Full Screen mode, either through the PCM or through the dealer, but with Rennlist Sponsors willing to go above and beyond for Rennlist forum members, it’s not a huge deal. At the end of the day, I now have the Full Screen option for Waze and with Raymond’s assistance, I now love my car just a little bit more.

Where did you buy a phone holder?

The base looks like it came from Proclip USA: https://www.proclipusa.com/
You can attach other normal mounts to it via screw or adhesive.

My experience with Raymond
Hey guys, so after reading this thread I wanted to share my experience. Overall it was very positive! I’ll go into some detail for those who’d like to know more of the process including times.
So after the black square annoying me for half a year I thought enough was enough and contacted Raymond this week. After the payment we scheduled in a time for Thursday night as I’m pretty sure he’s on NZ time so it’s either morning or late evening as I’m on European time.
The whole process went smoothly, even though I had a firewall on my router so the download of the files was longer than usual but still Raymond did this all within 2 hours (otherwise it would have taken 30 minutes)
We then continued to the car however, I didn’t have a micro SD car to SD adapter (best to buy a normal SD card straight away) as only SD’s fit in the glovebox. However I’d like to tank Raymond for being patient and re-scheduling this part for the next morning.
The car part is very quick, after you plug in it’s only 15 minutes. Raymond explains every step and makes this whole process simple.
And now I’ve got full screen CarPlay! Which with an android is even more exciting!

*EDIT - I had this update applied, couldn't be easier! It's a must have, that cramped screen was giving me anxiety. Well worth the money spent.

Hello all, this issue is caused because the head unit in all PCM versions prior to 5.0 incorrectly report a CarPlay screen size of 800 x 480 to your mobile device, instead of the correct screen size.
Having diagnosed this using a Bluetooth adapter, I set about contacting the Porsche system specialist in the UK and after multiple emails they've agreed to perform an upgrade on my 2019 Panamera for free. The email I've received states "Re-program instrument cluster - Campaign Number WPF8, which unsurprisingly suggests that this is a standard upgrade available in their system, but not rolled out unless someone complains enough! The issue appears to be simply due to laziness on the part of Porsche, together with an expectation that this will drive vehicle upgrades. So do yourself a favour and get your complaint in, as anything less allows them to get away with next to no PCM updates, while keen Korean and Japanese manufacturer's roll out multiple enhancement updates each year, irrespective of the age of the vehicle.
I'll post back once I've got my car back with the upgrade completed...

Hi, so where exactly did you complain. I'm here in the states outside of Chicago. Just got my 2020 penny gts and am disappointed in the CarPlay display. Thanks! Good sleuthing.

but issue is that Porsche has never released any update to fix the CarPlay resolution and never will.
there is why we come up with the development, we do some work for Porsche dealers in US as well, they got us to fix their customers car when they got complaints from them

I understand. I have to have some warranty work done and will talk with my dealer about this. If I don't have any success, and it sounds like i won't, Innovativsoft will be my next stop. Will need to get some equipment organized since I am an Apple guy and don't use a laptop. Thanks
