Has anyone with a 971 gotten Android Auto running??

There is something about the screen size and our version of PCM that makes it work like ***. I got it enabled late this summer and it's really not usable due to screen size and resolution. I have been told it's an Android auto config thing and they are supposed to update it for cars with our screen shapes sometime this year. Until then I wouldn't bother.

I was thinking the recent WMD1 campaign that updates the PCM 4.1 in our 971s would solve the resolution issue but it doesn't --Android Auto is still not able to display properly. If your dealer happens to perform this update, you will have to have previous coding done to your car (for me I had to ask simaservis to re-enable Android Auto and the Voice function).

I found this dongle which enables wireless Android Auto, and Carplay to a Carplay OEM car. It even runs its own Android OS and it looks promising:

If I understand it correctly it's piggy-backing off Carplay to display everything.

There are cheaper options that can passthrough both Android Auto and Carplay wirelessly, I am looking at the "AI Box" solution so I can run specific apps.

I purchased an ApplePie Mini 2.0 -- built in Android OS and can do wireless passthrough of Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Could I run spotify off my phone using my phone data or does that box run the spotify and need its own data

Activate the android auto nativity is using all data on your phone, you don’t need a box

2018 Panny, I had the AA activated on the PCM, the screen resolution is so small its just about useless and frustrating to use. I have no way to change the resolution. Had the same person do my 2017 911 and that works fine.

Hi i can certainly fix that for your Panny, that is the common problem for all PCM4.1 between 2017-2019

I just had Ray do my 2020 Macan base last night. Took about 45 minutes, and part of that included installing TeamViewer on my PC. It was interesting to watch him drive my computer as my PCM re-booted three times, as per the plan. Interesting, and a little nerve-wracking! It turned out perfectly! I highly recommend Ray and his software.

I had android auto working in mine. Then I switched to iPhone LOL. After 8 Galaxy phones my S22+ was so terrible I went to the dark side.

I jumped from an s20 to an s23. I think that was a suitable interval and I like the phone. My wife has a standard iPhone 14 and it has its value as well. If I would have switched to an iPhone, I would have saved myself a lot of money on the Android install! Oh well, still love what Ray did and the flexibility I get with Android Auto. Cheers!
