Default Backup camera issue

I think there may be something wrong with the backup camera. It works and comes on as needed, but the image produced on the screen is not very good at all. Compared to other cars I have and have had, the camera seems to have below average resolution, making the picture not very clear, even after the lens has been wiped down.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the lens or camera system?

Thanks

I have a '16 GTS. I have included a picture of what the image looks like after I have cleaned the lens. The image just doesn't seem very clear or crisp. Is this what it is supposed to look like?

Thanks

I have ‘14S. Daytime image about like yours when clean. Night view and daytime when raining sucks. I asked service advisor (very good one) to have checked. His response was we’ll check it out but prob working as designed. I laughed and said so you’re telling me it’s a POS. He said “pretty much”. Also said newer ones really good. Not sure when design changed but your view is about like mine.

Thanks ManoTexas. Would it be possible to replace the camera with better quality one?

I have a 2012 and yes, my image sucks too. Crazy on such an expensive car but I believe this is what they are.

I have a 18 panny and camera quality is inferior compared to other cars I’ve had ( Bmw, Infiniti )
