Default 2013 PCM Issue

I got in my car (2013 GTS) this morning and the radio wouldn't play or connect to my Ipod. I've looked at a couple of PCM threads and the XM thread, but those all seem to state that there PCM is rebooting. And mine does not appear to be doing that. The screens change, I can go from FM to SAT and to the IPOD screen. But after that nothing happens. On the FM screen it appeared to be getting a signal because it would show the song that was playing, but no sound. It seemed to think for a bit, but when it did get to the IPOD screen, it would see my songs, but when I hit start playback there was no audio.

Thoughts?

You can try the factory reset procedure: Press and hold the PCM >> Info button for approximately 10 seconds until the PCM reboots. - Immediately select the following from the PCM: CAR >> OPTION >>Set PCM System >>Reset PCM >> Vehicle Handover >> Yes >> Yes
Note: the "PCM" button is the same as the volume ****.

Thanks for this. But somehow the third time I got in the car everything was fine. I'll keep this in mind when it happens again. These type of issues are fun.

The pcm uses a HD for the XM radio. Hard drives begin to fail in many of these cars. Many have been successful replacing the HD with an SSD. It's a much harder fix if replaced after the HD fails completely. If you dont have or use XM some have been successful simply removing the HD and the XM board. There are two types of HD used in the 3.1 pcm, older ones used a IDE hard drive and newer ones use a SATA HD. If your software version number begins with a 4, you have a SATA, if it begins with a 3, you have an IDE which is harder to find today. People have successfully revived their units, even dead HD's. there are threads here that cover this.
