Big Spring Service
(big shout out to my friend Yves for letting me use his shop and lift )
Ciaka missed a small step in his incredible write up, in order to get the sense line off teh hanger you need to disconnect the wear sensor, you do that by pushing down on the tab, lifting a small latch, or if like mine the tab is broken, you can slip a tiny screwdriver in from the back and lift the latch
Hit the first snag, seems the 4S uses different bolts to hold on the caliper compared tot he Turbo, need to go find the correct size E torx
there are worse places to be working on the car and having problems, just step outside, enjoy the view and relax for a few minutes

Got a late start, but still was able to get a good bit done.
I couldn't find any E18 or E20 sockets (well I did find a kit that went to E18, but I really didn't feel like paying that much) Found this "Universal" set at Lowes - did the trick
seem the brake shield bolts had been blue lockyited before
Noticed that I was missing the air deflectors from the lower control arm, ordered some replacements.(thanks Alex)
looks empty without the air strut

My new Polyurethane bushings ready to go
Packed the grease grooves with Prothane grease, hoping to keep the squeak at bay
Stopped raining fro my late lunch break

Got the lower control arm out
Going to pull the bushing and reinstall the lower Arm tomorrow
Got the driver side done as well as the sway bar bushings
Forgot to take a picture of my new bushings, hopefully I will tomorrow

I hope this is the way they are supposed to go in, didn't seem to want to work the other way
got an early start for once, and was able to get the passenger side done.
Got a bit too much paint on there

this is why I consider the passenger side the "hard" side, one of the upper arm bolts is in a place you reallt can see it and you can't get your hand into, makes it tricky to get the nut on.
A bore scope and a light colored car make it much easier - even with the bore scope one Yves black turbo it was tough and took a good while.
better idea of where the bolt is
Completely forgot to take a picture of the lower bushings again

Tomorrow fluids

First thing was to replace the brake fluid
Got the wheels mounted
Down and supporting it's own weight, this went really smoothly, no chassis failure alerts
drove it to the end of the driveway, notice a rubbing sound - turns out we had mounted the wheels on the wrong ends - front tin back and back in front

Backup on the lift to change the now warm oil
Doing the rear differential oil, in order to get to the fill port you need to move the air compressor
the spring mounting system is a bit tricky, especially since the front mounts are done differently than the rears even though they use the exact same components

so you need to pay attention (hard learned lesson from when Yves did his car last year)
