You have to ignore the VCI icon in Piwis, it will always show "X". Test your VCI connection with the ACTIA VCI Tester, a small tool which should be in the list of apps. If all fields are checked, the VCI connection works.

Does somebody know what is going wrong? @rnlst_log maybe?

thx, i made some improvement, while searching for that Actia thing i saw that the copying to the normal disk the driveletters/partitions were messed up.
Now i have a normal USB icon and it says VCI via USB
Next problem, no diagnose-button, probably due license thing?
I have the PT3KG on the desktop, it does its job but the PW3 doesnt save it, it wants to go online, what i think is not the right thing?
Hi,
several month ago I tried a PIWIS inplace upgrade to WIN11 on a physical machine Dell E5450 .
It works for scanning and coding but NOT for GFF (guided fault finding).
The reason is, that the underlying database driver from EMPOLIS not intialised correctly.
In chapter 3 of the Empolis Administrator guide (inluded in PIWIS) you are guided how to install IAS on a windows system.
If you do as described you will see that the command "net start IAS_NCS" will not run du to missing administrator privileges.
I did several attempts to get all the needed services properly running together (IAS xxx services, IGFX xxx modules. all PostgreSQL Server modules and SMILA.exe)
but got no final success on the database (all car brands were accessible but no DTC input possible).
If anyone got this to work it would be nice to see a little howto :-)
Kind regards
Marco
Did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm finding the same problem.
I installed the PIWIS image (meant for VMWare) under VirtualBox on my (Intel) MacBook Pro, only for diagnostics purposes.
I needed to enter a new PIWIS serial code in the Windows registry in order to make it work.
It did not work when I entered it through PIWIS itself.

[QUOTE=jayson;19264683]OK - A couple of updates for you guys.
Firstly, the TabScan T6PT3G is worth its weight in gold, stop fudging with the cheap VAS clones and go pick up one of these. It is 100x quicker than the clones, and if you are running PIWIS native (not in VMWARE) everything happens super quickly. I pulled the entire VAL in less than 4 minutes. Massive upgrade from a usability POV.
The aggregate result of all of this effort is that my headlights are now successfully coded and commissioned, something that the VAS was simply unable to do! So net/net, I was able to buy the T6PT3G for what I likely would have paid Porsche to do it for me, and now I get to keep it too. Win/win. /QUOTE]
Hi Jayson,
I have the exact problem with my Panamera regarding the missing mcr files and unable to code the headlight modules. Please can you clarify that the adapter itself was the cause of the problem? Did you use your original version of PIWIS and the TabScan to finally complete the job?
