Knocking noise
Hello Everyone!!
I need some help from you all.
I posted awhile back about my 2012 Panamera Turbo...
In July I got a chassis system failure warning and after taking my car to my local reputable independent mechanic it was determined I needed new struts due to air leaking. I decided to go ahead and replace both sides. My independent suggested to go the Remanufactured route and purchased from RMT Company.
They shipped a set of Struts and they were installed and we sent mine back to them because it’s a core exchange type transaction.
3 weeks later I started noticing a knocking noise when going over uneven surfaces at a slower speed.
Took my car back to the local independent shop and they said it was upper control arms making the noise. Replaced both uppers and noise still happening.
They then decided it was possibly the RMT struts so they sent them back to RMT and they said everything looked fine but decided to replace the top hats of the struts. They shipped the struts back and local independent reinstalled and still the knocking
noise.
We then replaced sway links both sides and bushings. Noise still there however the sway bar bushings were worn so this was needed and valid.
Just replaced both lower control arms and of course the knocking noise is still there.
My gut is leaning towards the struts internally have some type of issue but I can’t say for certain.
ANY THOUGHTS? I’m about ready to give up because it’s costing me a fortune to figure out the problem !
Thanks for any help!
Tony
