Bought my first Porsche in 1976, a 914-6, which I sold thus starting a string of air cooled 911's.
After lurking here for at least a year, I am excited to say I am now a Panamera owner. I pick it up tomorrow. I'll post some pics hopefully. It's a 2012 base 4. Dark metallic blue over beige. Sport +. Turbo wheels. wood grain on the console and doors. 66K miles. the more adjustable seats. The newest car I have ever owned.
I doubt that the transmission fluid flush was performed at 60K so I'll be doing that shortly. Hope to find DYI threads for that and that kind of stuff on here although I doubt there will be as much as the 997 and Cayenne sites, of which I am a member, too. Always lots of stuff for the 914-6, too.
Other upcoming challenges: program garage door opener, figure out how to get the instrument cluster display to be what I want. get old iPhone with music hooked up and working in the console. pair iPhone.
Does it really have launch control? Thought I read that somewhere.
Anything else I should check and/or get programmed?
Congratulations on the purchase! I think you'll love the Panamera.
Programming the garage door opener is fairly straightforward, but does require some trial-and-error.
Launch control is available with Sport Chrono (either from the factory or retrofit), but I'm not sure if it's available on the base model. I had it installed on my 970.2 2016 4S.
congrats, you'll love it.
I always lusted after the 914-6, closest I got was a 914 2.0
My first Porsche was my newest (said '73 914 2.0) but only by one year and the Panamera is second newest and by far the lowest mileage Porsche I've owned.
Congratulations on the purchase! I think you'll love the Panamera.

congrats! Ya - standard homelink process - instructions in the users manual worked for me.
Got the car home. Pouring through the manual. Great car -- the best I've ever owned. Even with the V6 plenty of power for me. Bad V8's on two Cayennes. 4-wheel drive is confidence inspiring. There was a smell in it, probably prior smoking. Ozone generator over night should solve that.
Just ordered WeatherTech's.
I usually run Waze on an iPod mini in other cars. Anyone figure out the best way to hold one?
2012 4. Completed the week of ownership. Love the car. I can't imagine a better 4 door car. Figured out most of the settings and have them the way I want. The four wheel drive continues to impress. So does the power. Plenty for me for how I drive the car. An S or a Turbo must be crazy. I like the Dark Metallic Blue, too. The old iPhone for music in the console works as desired and controlling it on the steering wheel is the best. I find that I like being in Sport mode driving around town. Punch when I need it and it turns off the engine turn off function, which I could do without.
I too have the base 4 and love it. I won’t deny once in a while I wish it had more power, but 99% of the time it’s plenty. Mine came with launch control, but only tried it once, I’m not a light to light drag racer so find it superfluous, and frankly worry about the violence on the vehicle. If your able to switch into sport plus mode you have it as well. I too drive in the middle setting, sport mode. Getting started in the morning is like a pilot in a cockpit. Sport mode engaged, heated seat engaged , heated steering wheel engaged, cabin heat turned off, Bluetooth engaged, proximity sensors engaged off(narrow garage sound drives me nuts)...and that’s all part of the fun experience for me. I have an iPhone 8 and pair my Spotify easily and use Apple maps for routing...they’ve come a long way.
