Default Panamera standard lights?

Hi, is PDSL standard ok a pan 4 or is it an option? Looking to purchase an out of state pre owned 2017 and want to ensure I’m not missing out on anything “basic” one would need on a Porsche! Led headlights with daytime four point is one of those basic needs.

I have a 2017 4S. The standard lights are LED's with the four-point daytime running lights. PDLS and PDLS+ are options. If the car has the premium package, it will have at least PDLS, as it is part of the package. If all you are concerned about is having LED's with the four-point running lights, the standard lights are fine.

I'd do a search here, there was another thread recently asking about it and someone with the base lighting chimed in as it being fairly good if I remember rightly.

So the car I’m looking at gas premium package. Not plus. And in the standard options it lists Porsche halogen lights. So I imagine they’re not led? Anyone with the halogen lights have an opinion on it VS pdsl?

I made no insight, I informed you that there was a recent thread that might be of interest ---> https://rennlist.com/forums/panamera...ufficient.html and said as best as I could recall the result was positive but of course that you would have to decide after perusing it yourself. To search this forum alone... When you first enter the section to the top right of the thread listing and below the page links is a box labeled "search this forum" which is the easiest way I know to quickly search the section you are in. I had the base lights for about 5 days on a rental BTW and own the PDLS now but knew there were some responses from people who owned both which would provide a better informed opinion; this is why I didn't offer my impressions up. The sarcasm wasn't necessary, I was only trying to help out.

Edit... The base lights are LED now and they were in 18 (my model year); are you sure they were halogen as base in 17? One way to know for sure is to simply get a salesman to take picture of the exact car and you'll know.

I wasn’t being sarcastic. I was responding to the person above you who did lend his insight. As always I’m always appreciative of anyone who takes the time to respond and share knowledge. Here is a picture of the light fixture.

I checked the original configuration documents for my car, the 2017 4S, and they show LED's as standard equipment. I also checked the Porsche website for the specs of a current base Panamera 4, and they also show LED's as standard equipment, so I am not sure where the mention of halogens comes from in the car you are considering. You may want to ask the seller to double-check carefully. The picture of the light fixture you posted looks like the picture on the Porsche website for the LED's. I cannot compare directly to my car, as I have the Matrix lights.
In any case, if it helps, I have another, older Porsche that has halogen lights, and quite frankly, they are good enough for any kind of normal driving. There is a difference with respect to the LED's, but it is not something that you normally think about when driving at night. Either way would be OK, but my bet is that the car has LED's.

You’re right the listing incorrectly states “automatic halogen lights” which is where I got it from. On the window sticker, it lists it as fully automatic projector beam daytime running auto leveling headlamps. Thanks!

Default Panamera Lights

So I had this same question about a month ago. I just got my 2019 panamera hybrid 2 weeks ago. I have PDLS on my car and have driven about 500 miles. It has been hard to tell if it makes a difference because i haven’t had the car long enough.

If you mostly drive on lighted roads, it probably won’t matter. Where I live there are no street lights so you can definitely tell and the PDLS can help. On the freeways, it’s hard to notice when there are a lot of people around because of the light pollution from stray headlights and other vehicles.

Someone had pointed out on my thread that if you are driving twistys in the dark - it would be a big help. I suspect if you are driving on a deserted freeway at night it would help also because the projection is supposed to be speed sensitive. I often drive to the mountains to ski late at night or early in the morning so it is important to me.

In retrospect - I’m glad I have it and would pay to have it again. But I wouldn’t label it a deal breaker - if the car you like or want is perfect in every other aspect, don’t let the presence of PDLS or lack of it deter you.

Hope that helps.
