Maintainence items based on TIME - Sepcifically air filter
I only put about 3k a year on my Panamera S (2015). Dealer says I have to change the airfilter based on time (2 years). It is no way near the capacity based on mileage. I understand changing fluids based on time as they go bad. But what about an air filter?
I am hesitant because its rather expensive as the bumper has to come off. I don't really want to do it myself even though I have seen the video. Looks easy in the video, but probably harder in real life.
I do like learning to do things myself, but prefer to do it with someone knowledgeable the first time. I'm in S Cal just in case someone wants to help me learn. But if not, do you need to change an air filter with 6 k miles on it after 2 years?

Well, on air filter, there is hardly wear. I think there are plenty of low mile cars that get driven hard when they are driven which I think drives that recommendation. If it is purely local driving around, I think it may be a bit of an oversell.

The interval on my 2012 P4 is 4 yrs or 40,000 miles, so surprised your 2015 is only two years? If you have only 12 - 15K miles on yours, it should be pretty clean. Haven't seen the filter in person, but I would suspect its materials should be durable enough to last quite awhile. Maybe after 10 years rubber components might become suspect? In any event, since my service records couldn't confirm if/when the air filter was replaced by previous owners, I took the hit and had it replaced at 80,000 mile service.
