Angry Rear wiper failure

Has any one had difficulty with their rear wiper? Mine apparently just failed this morning- only goes about half way and stops in the middle.(Its an '12).
I guess I'll check over in the Cayenne forums as well.

Does it return to rest position ?

If not maybe just the arm has come lose on the splined spindle and needs the nut locking up?
Assuming its that type of fitment.

No, it stops in the twelve o'clock position. If I turn it on, it will swing to the left (9 o'clock) in a fairly smooth manner, but then jerkily move back to about 11:30 without ever go past that to the right. Can't really move it much by hand (although not forcing it) I'll probably take a look at it from the inside of the hatch on Sunday. Read a post in the Cayenne forum where spraying some WD40 near the motor fixed their problem (at least temporarily)

but you've flipped the cover up to check the arm is still located tightly on the splined shaft ?

If you are talking about the little plastic cover on the base of the wiper arm, yes I just checked that and both the nut and shaft rotate with the arm, with only about 10 - 15 degrees of play. (again, without forcing it further)

OK, if the WD40 trick doesn't work I would imagine theres some gearing inside the motor assembly that's probably worn, maybe the gears are plastic and worn if its been jammed in the past.
Hopefully just something tight/seizing that the WD40 will free off.

just found this, https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-overhaul.html

its a 928, but basically the technology will be the same.

and this https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...t-working.html

Poss you seen both. Would be amazed if yours has "rotted" like the second link.

I think if a previous owner has been clearing snow/ice it can potentially wear the plastic gears out. if its intermittent, maybe only a few teeth have rounded?
