Did you meant legend, not legion; this is the first I've heard of high oil consumption in the 8 cylinders. I find that the info on these owners/users sites tend to bitch the problems and seldom compliment the successes. I've owned 5 Porsche from 944, 911 Targa, 911 Cab, 993 C2S and the 4S now and none of these were what I would consider "oil burners" or technician training tools! ...... Lucky, I guess !
Same thing with my Subaru s. Everyone saying the 2.5 flat fours burn oil. I had 5 with not one oil burner, not even my turbo WRX.

rx7ven, I was in the same boat as you- totaled my 911, insurance settled for $21K, and bought me a 2012 Panny 4 for $32K. So far, I'm really liking it!
