Tailgate will not open

Tailgate will not open
I have a 2013 panamera. The rear lid filled with water - probably from debris under the spoiler....
All sorts of fault codes going off.
Got it to my mechanic, rear lid will not open.
Car still has power, drives etc.
Any suggestions as to how to get the tailgate open would be much appreciated.
Hard to replace the modules when you cant get the tailgate open :-)
Thanks,
Steve

I can guess that there is a release cable under bumper or taillight... that s how the 911 works.
There has to be a way because the battery is under there and if you had a dead battery you would be in the same situation.
Look in the manual or call 1800 PORSCHE roadside assistance and tell them you have no power to get into trunk and they may talk you thru it.

Assuming that the tailgate is unlocked...

There is a hidden manual release on a Panamera. It is hidden behind the drivers side tailgate lamp. The lamp is removed by inserting a screwdriver into the end of the lamp to release the catch and then pivoting it down. Once it is removed, there is a cable behind it that you can pull that releases the lock

rbunelle - thx for the post. That's exactly where my mechanic got to last Thurs. I've been out with the flu...sorry for the late response!
Couple things to add:
Steve
Couple things to add:
- Tailgate was locked and non-operable so your post was spot on. Only way to get in as per my mechanic was with the cable behind the tail light
- Cause of the short was water in the compartment where the tools and sub-woofer are
- Water accumulated since the drains in the spoiler were clogged with debris
- I purchased the car used from a very reputable dealer - very nice condition
- Simple check i would suggest for any new owner is removal of the spoiler just to be sure the drains are clear
- In the end, need to replace the rear control module and the sub-woofer
