Default Key and Ignition

I just purchased my first porsche pamamera 2011 4 last week, i got out of my car with it running and hooked my key fob with a Lanyard in my shoe and pulled it out of the ignition , I put the key back give me ignition and shut the car off the key will not turn the ignition. I assume I broke something in the ignition. I have removed the ignition and ordered a new one, my question is will there be any reprogramming required to get my Key to work in the new ignition switch?

Based on my manual, there is no programming required. Key information is stored in the following places, front BCM, Rear BCM, DME and the electronic steering lock, if you have one. if any of those modules are replaced, they need to be programmed with the key.
