Default E-Hybrid charging

As the car only has a 3.7kw on board charger is it safe to plug into a type 2 socket with a higher KW than 3.7kw?

I see conflicting statements made and don't want to damage the carcwhen I'm out and about plus I don't have a type 2 adapter for my PUC

Many thanks.

I would say your best source on this is the service manager at your dealership.

If someone here gives you the wrong information, I doubt that they are going to pay for any damage you do by following their advice.

As above, but my guess is yes - it just means the battery cannot charge at that rate.*

*Not to be relied upon!

Absolutely.

The actual charger and brains of the charger are on board the car. The external bits, either the Porsche Universal Charger or a public charging station, talk to the car's onboard electronics, tell it what's available, and supply what the car asks for. One of the pins in a J1772 connector is for exchanging information with the car.
