Default 2007 Mercedes Benz S550

Been looking at a variety of vehicles lately trying to find a good daily driver/family car.

Really opened my eyes when I saw that 2007 year MB S550's are going for around 27k. I've never sat in one but the photos of the interior are especially impressive. I don't think anything other than a Bentley looks this good inside.
Anybody have experience with them?

I've noticed quite a few with over 160,000 miles which is good to see (ones i'm looking at have in the 60,000 - 70,000 mile range)

They tank in value as too many were leased and surface on market after lease.

Reliability has been a problem for them. Too many bells and whistles. Watch out for airmatic mb. They all fail and is costly to repair

Google "Mercedes ABC" you'll quickly see why they are going for so little money. If that system fails you could see repair bills in thousands very quickly.

They are right, used MBs are relatively cheap compared to their new price because so many are off lease and off warranty. Most people that want S, CL, CLS, SL, want new ones. If you can find a good used one, it's a great deal. If not, you will see a lot of repair bills.

ABC does not come on S550 standard, only higher end AMG models.
Just buy the oldest one you can find that is CPO and enjoy 3 years and 135K total miles. I do this every 2-3 years and depreciate maybe 5-15K depending on model and year.

I drove a CL65 under warranty for 3 years and 22K miles for $10K depreciation.

Bought an '08CL550 6 months ago with 44K miles paid 41K + 4K for extended CPO = 3 years and 135K total miles warranty.

Car will sell in 2 years with 65K for 30K? But maybe more as I keep them very clean..

Bought an R350 diesel, drove it 100K miles and lost 15K in 3 years. Bought an E320 Diesel before that, lost 4 K in 2 years and 60K miles.

Sounds like a smart way to drive luxury. I'll keep my eye out for a CPO S550 with no ABC.

I bought an 09 CLS for 38 k. I drove it for 15 months sold it for 34k on a trade for a 12 CLS 550 4matic for 68k. Car was 14 months old and had lost 30k . I have a factory warranty until 2016.
I will never buy new.
don't by the 07, they had some issues. 08 was better. with new S class out the w221 are falling everyday. Hold out for the lowest mileage you can find
