New mustang

A nice upgrade from the previous generation, kudos to Ford for finally abandoning the retro styling and moving into the 21st century.
The interior rocks, IMO it's night and day better than the C4-inspired mess in the new Corvette.

Good looking car. Hopefully the quality backs up the design.
This is what the Corvette shoud've done:
"The back of the 2015 Mustang features a decklid that's been lowered 2.75 inches, contributing to the fastback shape and giving the rear end a more planted appearance, while also allowing a lower opening for the rearranged trunk (it now accommodates two sets of golf clubs without folding the rear seats)."
Bonus points:
"As for transmissions, Ford has resisted the urge to fit some exotic seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic or even a dual-clutch transmission to the sixth-generation Mustang. Instead, the Getrag six-speed manual gearbox from the current car will be carried over, and it will be joined by a six-speed automatic, which for the first time will feature genuine paddle shifters."

Looks pretty good-- will there be a lightweight edition?

Supposedly it is going to weigh substantially less but time will tell. Biggest issue for me on my Boss is that the transmission shifting is not so hot on the track. Hopefully new ones will do better. But for a fat pig it does ok.
Like the new look though. Can't wait to see one in the flesh.

Kudos for going to a 4-wheel independent suspension, but the axle/wheel bearing/lug bolt assembly reminds me of the late 80s Corvette. The wheel bearings were constantly going out, probably because I like driving the canyons. The sealed wheel bearings cost $400 each at wholesale 25 years ago. Dealer price was much more and don't even ask what they charged to install.

Also, look at the geometry of the rear lower A-arms and tell me that isn't going to be a nightmare wear problem for the linkage.
Pardon me for being so picky, but they are definitely putting form over function.

Not a drop top guy but here you go.
The hood bulge/nose relationship appears driven by european pedestrian impact standards more than anything because I'm seeing similar on many cars.

I think it looks great. I need to see the tail lights in person before I'm completely on board with those though.
Compared to the Vette/Camaro the sophistication and subtlety of the design is in a completely different league.

Transmission is not the problem. It is the crappy stock clutch not fully disengaging when it gets hot. The answer for me was the Mcleod RXT dual disc clutch. Felt like OEM after break in and cured the shifting problems.
Now if they use the same crappy clutch in the new car shame on Ford.
