New Corvette...
The Z51 is only running skinny 285 rear tires. and 245 fronts. The widebody is going to have some big ole meaty tires, stickier option for tires (mpsc), more hp, more torque, more DF, better gear ratios, and probably lighter weight.
Corvette has made it predictable how they are going to smash the competition.
Can you imagine a wing/splitter combo on it? OMG!
Porsche has been caught with pants down.
With GM's warranty status, I can't see myself passing up the new Z. Will be hard enough not to buy the Z51.
Manual is obsolete........

On a racetrack we don't do acceleration from a standing start (unless someone calls a drag strip a racetrack which could be a nice joke). We don't downshift to 1st or upshift to 2nd either.
I like to use a measured 0-100mph and a measured 0-60mph, and extract the 60mph-100mph acceleration, this really proves the acceleration rate on most cars. If the test shows 0-40mph, 0-50mph, 0-70mph, 0-110mph, 0-120mph, 0-130mph, 0-140mph,0-150mph, 0-160mph, the information gets even better as I can run Playstation simulations using speeds from my local tracks.
The C7 Z51 lapping in 2:51 on full street tires is a big achievement. Beating the Scuderia by 3 secs, the GT3 RS 3.8 by 4 secs (both cars on r-comp rubber), the 991S by 7 secs, is a very tall order.
I knew it was going to exceed the C6GS performance, but exceeding the C6 Z06 performance was not expected, the beauty of a close ratio transmission and 460ft-lbs of torque compared to the C6Z06 insane long gearing.
Cheaper than a base Cayman, cheaper than a base Boxster, cheaper than any Porsche, let alone the twice as expensive 991S and 991GT3W.
Yeah baby. I'll be trading my C6 ZR1 when the C7 ZR1 comes out (probably wait for second model year like I did this time). In the meantime, you guys need to start buying the C7 Z51 and come out and chase me around here at the tracks in TX. A C7 Z51 with a bit of aero and some slicks will make me pay attention.
The Z07 will be even stupider fasterder but also 80-90K It might still need some mods...
I'm very comfy experimenting with the Z51 at that price point and it is fast enough.
When the Z07 comes along we can always upgrade..

Cool, have you run either before? You have data/vid/laptimes? I'd be curious as to what that highly modded 996 Turbo can do. I've never seen any 996 Turbos do very well at the tracks around here, but I doubt they have been as set up as yours.
Should be in the Messer range of speed at TWS with some practice.
My lap times are not my point, my point ultimately is that im as big of a corvette fanboy as you will find that owns a porsche but I find your consistent zr1 bravado and condescending tone towards porsches to be wearing thin on my nerves. So id like to show you they are not all slow. We all know the zr1 is fast. No need for constant reminders.
If that does not convince you, maybe we can arrange a meeting between you and mr m3evobr in his gt2 which is stock. I would bet he can give you a dose of humble pie. Ill be ready if you decide to install the aero kit you were talking about on corvette forum.
