New Corvette...
Corvette VS Camaro
Corvette
Could work: 450HP 3000lbs
Camaro
Much less likely to work: 500HP 3800lbs
Maybe they could have done us a favor by giving is a lighter, less HP, smaller engine?
They brakes can be huge, but with that kind of power it will go 170+Mph at the fast tracks and stopping 3800lbs from that speed needs exponentially more brakes?
The Corvettes less HP and much less weight might just do the trick with the same amount of braking force and cooling stuff.

After all, if it was only about fuel economy, why would they need a whole new chassis? Or do smaller, more fuel-efficient motors somehow not fit in the C7?
Didn't anybody ever tell you to not believe everything you read on the interwebs? This is especially true on 4/1.

Savy will move his deposit to the corvette the day he see's me post better laptimes in a similar cost C7 z51. Rad will sell his C6GS and give his Fiat to the nearest Salvation Army.
I think I will load it up to see what the worst case weight is. I assum every box ticked is what fifty bucks?
LOL probably will buy a stripper ;-)

It seems to me that if the site only posted pranks then nobody would believe this corvette "report". April Fool's day is a free pass to do this kind of thing. VW posted a prank on their own facebook page apparently.
Didn't really read their other crap of the day and realized too late their game. I found the news funny after all the praise this new Corvette is been getting...and I admit...I'm not a fan.
Sorry for the misinformation...

Another thing many people keep forgetting is the official GM release on the LT1 engine (the new C7 base engine) has power at AT LEAST 450hp. It will likely trickle to 460-470hp before it's formal release.
So, my fairly educated guesstimates on the C7 Z06 will be a 6.2 LT4 (better heads/cam/forged internals) engine in the 550hp range OR a high revving (relatively speaking, maybe around 7,500rpm or so) 5.5L with substantial weight reduction technologies getting the wet weight around 3,000lbs with 540hp or so.
Finally, the C7 ZR1 (the one I will likely want to replace my C6 ZR1) very well could be a 5.5L DI twin turbo V8 with around a 7,000rpm redline and roughly 700hp. Add in some more weight reduction, possibly a dual-clutch (maybe on the Z06 too), and you have a track day car that will likely best just about anything on the track short of the ultra-exotic track specials from Maranello, Stuttgart, Woking, etc.
The C7 Z51 is going to be a very potent car. I think they benchmarked the C6 Z06 if that's any indication. Factor in the newer tech, all the coolers, the competition seats, etc. and it's going to be a very high value track day car and it will likely best the performance of the Z28.

It will produce more than enough power that is for sure
My hope/guess, C7Z (5.5L NA 600hp), C7ZR1 (5.5L Supercharged 700hp)
Mike
Would be nice if they would use the C6R engine as a base for the upcoming Z06/07, than GM would take over from Porsche, as they would be using the same base engine for racing and street use
