Very nice, just add AWD.

First, that will never make it over here as it has the double kiss of death(diesel AND wagon). Then, I agree with Kevin, I want AWD. But it's probably the BMW I'd most like to have. Maybe an X5M with the same motor?

It's already there.

Excellent vehicle for hauling a trailer or boat up into the mountains. Would make quick work of 10%+ grades.

Me likey! If you are any kind of a home owner or outdoors-man, you will appreciate a wagon -- and that metric ***-tonne of hauling comes at 44+mpg.

They will be new kings of autobahn. Taking crown over from 535d which is already brilliant design for long distance low altitude flying.

I have an X5 diesel and love it. Great for towing my boat. Found out on a highway in MT that the US version limited to 135 mph.

If they ever make a 4-cylinder version, THAT is going in my 944.

What kind of mileage do you get in town and on the highway?

That would be a nice little transporter for my photo gear.

I have a 3.0 CRD in my Grand Cherokee and get mid 20's highway and high teens city. It can also tow 7,500 lbs too. I did have a student with a 335d I was instructing and that car was very fast as there was gobs of torque to push you out of corners.

I really like my S4 Avant but the V8 gives me 20 mpg. Doesn't matter what I do or how I drive it. It gets 20 mpg. I'd love a turbodiesel wagon with the same or better performance. I'll admit I am also a fan of AWD...

Very very cool.

Not sure about this "most powerful engine of its kind", though. Audi had a 6.0L V12 twin turbo diesel that put out something like 500 horsepower and 740 torques! Up until recently, that was more torque than you could get (stock) from any of the American diesel pickups, and it's STILL far more horsepower. They should have put that engine in an A8 (or if truly insane, and A6 Avant).
